I'd like to give Saunders a final shot to see if he can cut it in this week. The chances are he is just a 4th outfielder, but its not like we have anything to lose giving him a shot. He isnt much use offensively if he only plays sparingly.

Almonte needs to go back to AAA, where he belongs.

Dont we still have Endy Chavez in AAA. He is nothing special but he can play decent defense, has speed and can at least give a quality at bat. Call him up and send down Almonte and have Chavez and Saunders play CF and give Romero some abs against righties in RF. Almonte is a guaranteed 2 strike outs a game with dicey defense, needs to go back down now.

Agreed. Last time I checked he was leading the MLB in strikeouts and considering that he has 2 tonight I wouldn't be surprised if he is still holding that title.

Problem is the only outfielders at the majors and AAA level are converted infielders (Almonte, Ackley, Romero) or journey man guys like Gillespe and Chavez. Ideally I would rather go younger too but our OF depth lacks. I think Almonte has gotten a enough of a shot. I would like to see Saunders and Romero get regular playing time to see what they can do and let Chavez be the 4th OF

I'm normally all about getting young guys playing time but, the strikeouts and spotty fielding aren't going away. This is who he's been all through the minors (about 21% k rate). It ain't changing.

3 more strikeouts today. He is not a major league hitter. I know most of our guys are not but nothing about his game deserves to have a roster spot let alone be starting every single day.
