Agreed. Sit around for days then shelf him officially. The whole thing was so Mariners.
Conspiracy theory, COVID. Timeline makes sense and also is an olive branch to Lewis for essentially questioning him since his last knee injury.

Here is the same situation as France (different type player).

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Astros and Yordan Álvarez have agreed to a six-year, $115 million contract extension.

Álvarez had been slated for arbitration for the first time this offseason, but this deal will buy out through arbitration as well as three free agent years. It's the largest-ever contract for a designated hitter. Álvarez seems to have put his past knee issues behind him and has been one of the best sluggers in baseball over the past two seasons, batting .276/.351/.541 with 47 home runs over 189 games.

Alvarez is 3 years younger so his number should be bigger. How much bigger? I think 5/$75M is still right.

I disagree that 5/75 isn’t fair. I am just saying I think his agent might want more (his job) but I also don’t think France would want to buy out his first two years of FA, with how the organization is going. But he also doesn’t have any leverage since he isn’t going to get $50 million through arbitration. But then again, I haven’t read through the new CBA so no idea if arb is much more player friendly….either way the Mariners should buy out his arbitration. Like I’ve said, the organization is poorly run or at least is perceived to be and buying out his arbitration is an olive branch to other agents letting them know their clients can come to Seattle and not get nickel and dimed. Seattle still doesn’t have an income tax, Bellevue has the highest income per capita outside of D.C., Seattle shouldn’t be a hard sell. Seattle, sports wise, is in a much better situation with financing than where they were with getting Cano and Cruz. Point is, they shouldn’t be getting outbidded.

Jerry set this to be the season and it is going to be another season sitting on the outside. There “improvement” was Ray, Suarez and Winker. Ray hasn’t been an ace, Suarez is a poor man’s Seager and Winker for 99% of the time is just a dude. Like I’ve said, way too much pressure on JRod, Kelenic and Raleigh to all pop at the same time. But as usually, Kelenic goes to Tacoma and is way too good for the PCL. Problem I have noticed it he is so much more aggressive with the Rainiers as opposed to the Mariners. If he does come back up they need to pull a Willie Mays Hays on if he gets to two strikes he has push-ups to do.

france is the best..player..seattle has right now.....i would rather trade with tampa..prob is right know..not enough hits or HRs
not jerrys falt...

2 of his best guys are out........2 of the best HR hitters....it takes 40 guys...and a line up..and bull pen..it just does..

but what he should be trying to do is make the team..better...always....with that said...

Ya know what, I don’t like giving up Mead, but Hancock is extremely undervalued. We also need outfield depth. I feel like we could train Kelenic into something great. Seattle likely says no, but if I was the Tampa GM, I say yes.

Kelenic really worries me. He’s no longer a top prospect. It’s very questionable if he is even a Major Leaguer. I wouldn’t give up 40M worth of trade value for him. $20M is even questionable.
