Abraham Toro (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Low-A Everett.​

It sounds like Toro could join the Mariners on their road trip -- they're currently in Baltimore -- if all goes well on the farm. He has been on the shelf since last weekend because of a mild left shoulder sprain.

Erik Swanson (elbow) is set to head out on a minor league rehab assignment later this week.​

There had been some hope that Swanson would be ready to return to the Mariners before the end of May, but early-June is at least still doable. He had posted a shiny 1.29 ERA and 21/1 K/BB ratio through 14 innings of relief when he landed on the IL on May 14 due to right elbow inflammation

Cubs signed RHP Adrian Sampson to a minor league contract.​

Sampson was released by the Mariners over the weekend after being claimed by them a few days prior and choosing free agency but has already found a new home -- a familiar one at that, as he started this season as a member of the Cubs. The righty will head to Triple-A Iowa for now.

His helmet came off, but the pitch hit his shoulder ( not his head )

I don't get why they had to be so secretive and vague about it. Obviously everyone was going to be worried it was his knee. They could have just told us it was a concussion issue.

Agreed about Lewis. Weird that now 3 days later we're hearing that it's a concussion issue. No reason to hide anything like that.

So it's a small sample size, but I like what I've seen from Trammell so far this time around. Guy was a top 50 prospect at one point, would be a huge boost to this team if he's managed to put it all together.

Is concussion protocol in baseball as strict as other sports? I’m just wondering cause this is really weird.
