Pitching isn't this teams issue. It's scoring runs.

We said going into the trade season we for sure needed more pitching because of depth, but it would be a failure of they didn't add at least one good bat. Wasn't even asking for a Soto or Ohtani. Just a solid .265 or better guy.

Both of those teams you mentioned did that. They both got stronger at a higher rate than the M's.

Adding Castillo is awesome. Should add a lot to next years run, but here we are again taking about next year. They absolutely did not do enough to impact this year's postseason chances.

Your last paragraph is just hilariously not true. You have to have forethought, and bolstering your team's strongest unit when everyone can see Kirby's innings climbing and Marco regressing absolutely impacts this team's postseason chances. We're in the position we are because of the starting pitching, not in spite of it.

Today's game is an obvious example. Castillo is absolutely embarrassing a Yankees lineup that spanked Gilbert. If you don't think that's a major upgrade I can't help you.

Stop it. I said at first that pitching isn't this teams problem, hitting is. That by definition is saying it is a strength. Further, I said adding more support for the pitching is good. So whatever you are trying to ascribe to my views is just plain wrong.

I said many times leading up to the deadline that they needed to add another pitcher because they have been fortunate to avoid injury and Kirby can't go the distance because of his youth. It's all over this board.

You keep ignoring that and just plain skipping past the rest of it.

This team has been struggling to score runs this year. They are 10th in the AL in runs scored! There are only 5 teams lower and Tampa is just 4 runs behind them.

Adding a high caliber pitcher is great. That alone is not going to put this team over the top and in contention, not just to get to the playoffs, but win at least a series this year. It feels more building for next year.

If they were serious about a run now, they would have gone after at least one more solid bat.

So fuck off with the personal attacks just because you don't agree with my opinions.

You claim you support adding pitching and in the same breath harp on the team for not "making a splash." You can save the "I said many times" bullshit. This is about you claiming the team didn't improve enough to compete this year, and that's just incorrect.

The team is already in contention, and a playoff spot means a 3 game series. Adding Castillo to one of those spots drastically improves our chances of winning that series this year.

Yeah, offense has been an issue this year, but look around, we're still in a playoff spot, and will be adding Haniger. You'll downplay his impact, but he is absolutely an offensive force that can carry the team and extend the lineup.

Sorry your feelings are hurt, but it gets fucking old hearing fans bitch and moan when real life GMs don't do everything they think they should. It's possible they have a little more info than you do.

Not able to watch the game, but looks like Castillo has had a solid first outing. I mean not having Judge in the lineup helps, but they have a lot of dangerous hitters and giving up just 3 hits and getting 7 k's through 6 is pretty strong.

And.... I see winker also just scored.

Will be coming back home with some momentum.

Robbie on the mound Friday with hopefully haniger back for the opener against the angels.

You appear to just want to attack and belittle rather than discuss.

Get over yourself. Not everyone is going to agree with you all the time. You don't get to claim that others opinions are wrong. They are opinions ffs.

They didn't bolster one of the worst batting lineups in the AL. Neither of those are opinion, they are fact. What it may mean going forward is very much opinion and I don't owe you anything for seeing it differently than you do.

If they can stay healthy they have a decent chance, but why should anyone blindly believe they will stay healthy when they have had so many injuries from their most key players this year?

I'm not exactly alone in being disappointed. Chuck Powell and a number of very knowledgeable baseball folks have been saying as much.

They could have done more and I'm disappointed they didn't. It appears for some reason that really angers you.

You're entitled to an opinion. Claiming the Mariners didn't make a splash at the trade deadline is not one. It's just an incorrect claim. Being called out on it upsets you, but I won't apologize for pointing out blatant falsehoods.

And again, this is some seriously emotional stuff for you. I already clarified it and here you still are mischaracterizing so you can keep attacking.

They should have addressed the hitting and didn't. I think that was a mistake. If you don't agree then say so and move on. It shouldn't require this much histrionics.

They didn't have Judge and Stanton. We didn't have JRod and France. Pretty even tradeoff. Cole must have been tipping pitches. We were all over him. Even Kelenic took him deep.

Saw that kelenic was 1-4, but only one was k. The other two outs were at least fly balls. I want so badly to see the kid go on a streak and settle in.

Good to see them end this road trip on a high note. Yes, they were missing guys, but they have much better depth and were at home.

Bring on the angels.

Correct. We have one of the strongest rotations in baseball but the offense will not stack up against most of the other teams in the playoffs. Even with Haniger returning, it still is lagging. And Kyle Lewis? You can't put much stock in him. His first 30 games in 2020 were great. But his last 30 games that year and everything since has been severely lacking. And Kelenic will never have greater trade value than he has right now. They should have moved him for a left fielder or second baseman. Those are the two biggest glares in our offense.

I don't trust Hani to stay healthy. And Lewis always looks one wrong sprint from going back on IR.

We don't lack an on paper lineup. We lack DEPTH. They can't really handle any injuries. They are bad without France. They look bad without Jrod. Hani and Lewis just can't be trusted to the point where you hang your playoff hopes squarely on either of them.

The weird thing is that 14 game streak though. No Hani or Kyle and there were guys out on suspension for a good chunk of it.

They are a streaky hitting team.

It's possible those guys stay up and produce. It's possible they are enough to get us there. I just wouldn't bank on it.

I'd have felt a lot better if they added more to the batting order.

NY didn't settle for adding just one guy. Neither did Houston. Heck, even the Padres added more and that's despite spending so much on soto.

Maybe this is the year to get lucky. We are going to need it.
