Tom Brady or Bill Belichick?

This is a First Take topic I find interesting.

Even though the defense is a major part of their success, I don't think the Patriots make playoffs without Tom Brady. If Belichick was to be out and Tom Brady still got to play, I think with him leading the team, they can make the playoffs.

I think up until Brady's injury in 2008, Belichick was more valuable. Since he returned from injury, I think Brady has been more valuable.

Completely agree. The 3 titles were won primarily by their defense. Since then the D went way down and Brady's carried them

chicken or the egg? Does Belichick make Brady a better QB? Does Brady make Belichick a better coach? Honestly, I don't know. Both?

5 Super Bowl appearances
3 Super Bowl rings
12 playoff appearances in 14 seasons (Brady is 12 playoffs in 13 seasons)
8 AFC Championship appearances (4th straight AFC Championship appearance)

Yeah, definitely resumes screaming overrated.

I can't credit them for making the playoffs 12 times when you're playing the Dolphins, Jets and Bills.

Kidding aside, one of the 2 years they didn't make it they won 11 games and the other I think the won 9. All they do is win

They went 11-5 with Cassell and missed the playoffs.

c'mon man we all know you hang with Johnny, although that might be a short-lived experience in Cleveland, or anywhere else in the NFL.

Rumor has it the Browns are looking to trade Johnny Jackass. Right now they want a late 8th round pick & a dozen deflated footballs in return.

Strange year. Other years teams get a wild card with 9 wins or win a division with 8 or 9.

As a Jet fan I tried that during the Kotitte error. Decided to go with the Bucs since I spend a lot of time on the Gulf coast of Florida. I couldn't stick to it. I always go back to the Jets. :L

Hard to really take either out of the equation in my opinion. I don't think BB wins 12 AFC East Titles, 3 Super Bowls, and everything else without Brady. Maybe he has about half of what he has now as we see with most teams that don't have a HOF quarterback at the helm. On the other side of the equation I'm not sure we know who Tom Brady is without BB having been his coach. There are some guys in the NFL that from day 1 are going to be great wherever they go. Other players though get coached up to be the players they are today. I think Brady falls more into that second category. Don't get me wrong he had talent before he came into the league and his talent is what has got him where he is but BB helped to hone that talent into what it is today.

If I had a gun to my head I would probably say BB has more to do with the success but I would say only by a couple of percentage points.

I think Belichick has more influence on the offensive side of the ball than people think. But Brady is the perfect chess piece for him. Belichick's overall influence on all aspects is more important and will be more difficult to replace when the time comes.

I do not care. They win and win most of the time. I am enjoying the ride.

I think Johnny finger could win on the Patriots. Great organization across the board - all the way down to the ball boy.....

This is like comparing gold medals for Ben Johnson and Lance Armstrong.
