Time flies.

Doesn’t feel like almost 13 years ago.

The summer I graduated HS, my down the road, eventual roommate and one of my still favorite people saw him pitch. Idk if it was even in Detroit, but he fell in love. (It was prolly in Detroit. But maybe he was in Canada for some reason, idk) For years he’d always throw out “See, I fuckin told you guys!” Whenever Doc had SC attention.

And I remember getting a text the night he tossed that no hitter for the Phillies. But I’ll be damned if I thought it was 2010.

I broke the news when he died. Felt like telling someone their friend was dead.

Guessing we were still baseball teammates when it happened. I was done with school, but not officially a graduate yet. And my buddy prolly watched Roy toss a shutout, in Toronto, on TV. Then went five days later and saw him beat the Tigers again, in Detroit.

It was a Tuesday. And we usually didn’t play on Tuesday’s. We played that Thursday, even though we didn’t usually play on Thursday’s. Which was annoying, because that was the day I graduated. So I didn’t get to play the second game of the double header. Because my mom
Made me walk instead.

Baseball tries to be really gay these days, but it’s still part of my life, despite the effort.

Timmeh threw a 2-hit, 14 K shutout that evening. IIRC, it had a slightly higher game score than Doc’s Nono.
