Do you KNOW this, or you just saying that you think they should be earned? And do those runs count toward the team‘s ERA?Pitcher B's runs are earned.

I see the argument both ways. I have no idea how it is actually ruled, though.I read in the rules that a pitcher is responsible for his own runs. Unless there was another error, pitcher B's runs are earned. As to team ERA, I don't know. I would assume they would be earned for the team as well.
It is the intent of Rule 9.16 (i) to charge a relief pitcher with earned runs for which such relief pitcher is solely responsible. In some instances, runs charged as earned against the relief pitcher can be charged as unearned against the team. For example:I see the argument both ways. Perfect! It is the intent of Rule 9.16 (i) to charge a relief pitcher with earned runs for which such relief pitcher is solely responsible. In some instances, runs charged as earned against the relief pitcher can be charged as unearned against the team. For example:
(1) With two out and Peter pitching, Abel reaches first base on a base on balls. Baker reaches first base on an error. Roger relieves Peter. Charlie hits a home run, scoring three runs. The Official Scorer shall charge two unearned runs to Peter, one earned run to Roger and three unearned runs to the team (because the inning should have ended with the third out when Baker batted and an error was committed).
(2) With two out, and Peter pitching, Abel and Baker each reach first base on a base on balls. Roger relieves Peter. Charlie reaches first base on an error. Daniel hits a home run, scoring four runs. The Official Scorer shall charge two unearned runs to Peter and two unearned runs to Roger (because the inning should have ended with the third out when Charlie batted and an error was committed).
(3) With none out and Peter pitching, Abel reaches first base on a base on balls. Baker reaches first base on an error. Roger relieves Peter. Charlie hits a home run, scoring three runs. Daniel and Edward strike out. Frank reaches first base on an error. George hits a home run, scoring two runs. The Official Scorer shall charge two runs, one of them earned, to Peter, three runs, one of them earned, to Roger and five runs, two of them earned, to the team (because only Abel and Charlie would have scored in an inning reconstructed without the errors).
BumpWhich actual MLB pitcher is credited as having thrown the fewest pitches ever, and how many pitches did he throw?
I'm guessing someone came in and picked off a runner but I have no idea who it is.Bump
Bonds and Clemens, Maris for starters. Not my final answer though. I gotta think about it.Name all players who have won multiple MVP/CY awards and are NOT in the HOF, and have appeared on the ballot at least once.
Dale Murphy, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens for sureName all players who have won multiple MVP/CY awards and are NOT in the HOF, and have appeared on the ballot at least once.
Much more tragic than that. And the person who holds this distinction is not entirely anonymous.I'm guessing someone came in and picked off a runner but I have no idea who it is.
I am not counting those seasons. Willie Hernandez is an example of that, though, and he is not in the Hall.Probably Juan Gonzalez, Manny Ramirez, maybe Dick Allen. Also, not sure if an MVP/CY Young by a pitcher in the same season counts. I'm pretty sure it's happened but not sure if it happened with a guy not in the Hall of Fame.
YesBonds and Clemens, Maris for starters. Not my final answer though. I gotta think about it.
YesAlso Denny McLain
not sure how I forgot him. He went back to back if I remember rightDale Murphy, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens for sure
