The higher payroll teams that usually draw 3.5-4 million fans, are at risk of losing even more than teams like the Pirates, limited income to offset the huge payroll expense
Oh without a doubt unless the Owners can get the top 4 in each division in the playoffs. Then they wouldn't care as much.

Also anything that would cause Nutting to be the sacrificial lamb I am all for. The Pirates are a joke and after the deal the Rockies just made they wanted to keep pace.

Owners have little interest in baseball being played with no fans in the stands. I don’t blame them for trying to push it back in hopes they can get some fans back
This. Theoretically, the longer the season the more fans can get in because states that don’t allow any fans in the stands will get capacity up to at least where they can profit. Not sure why the players are against the philosophy since their average salaries keep dropping.

So is DH completely out or is there still a possibility?

Also, the fact that it's essentially universally agreed upon that DH in NL is wanted and inevitable, the fact the league is rejecting it just shows bad faith. I will be surprised if there's not some sort of work stoppage. Both sides are so petty.

Are the players getting payed based on games scheduled, or games actually played? If the Commish has the power to suspend or cancel games, he controls their salaries. If I were a player, I'd be pissed, too. 2020 was a clusterfuck of cancellations.
