So why is it okay to improve your pitching mid season, but not an outfielder that is hurting the team?
because one is not hurting the team as much as you seem to think he is while starting pitching is

lol seriously? A sub 3 ERA with 12 wins at the all-star break is more valuable than a .260 hitter any day, I don't care how many bombs you have. We have guys that could replace him that might not hit bombs but could certainly get on base and hit for average. Both big losses, but I will go pitching over hitting every time.

What? "lol" is the opposite of freaking out, don't get overly emotional, and no, the A's could not easily replace a sub 3, 12 game winner more easily.because the A's have the means to replace Colon moreso than the rangers have the means to replace Cruz, that was said before
It was an opinion question, don't freak out
I'll contend its hurting far more than you think
well that's your opinion and mine is that we need a starting pitcher far more than we do a replacement for Murphy. that's the nice thing about chatrooms we can express our opinions

I never said we needed a replacement for Murphy more, In fact several places, we need to upgrade the rotation NOW and then look into replacements for Murphy
Except some of us can back up our opinions with facts.
Point is, if we have an opportunity to upgrade at Murphy's position for a reasonable cost, we need to do it.
Have you? I've presented the fact that we are winning as a team and you blew that off as unimportant. I ask you how many games differences would there be if you benched Murphy and put someone else out there and you didn't have an answer other than to say that there would be. all you have presented is OPS and if we go by that then we should bench Andrus too because his OPS is even worse than Murphy's.

Ok well, how can you assume my response is emotional through words? You can't, if I put "lol", it literally means its funny, or I'm being sarcastic, neither are emotional. Some of you do not take criticism or disagreement very well, I promise you do not know everything, and thats ok.Agreed, but primary focus is the rotation
I can live with a combination of parts in LF in the meantime, but this season is going to get ugly fast if we are forced to rely on Lindblom, Perez, Wolf and Grimm to fill the last 2 spots in the rotation
Perez is doing well now, but he's young and rough times I'm betting are ahead

I simply said that a replacement for Murphy is needed MORE THAN YOU THINK

I simply contended we would have more wins, and thats all that should matter (by your logic)
Andrus is deemed to be a long term part of the franchise, Murphy is not and Michael Young was not either
