Here's what you would have to figure, being announced after the All-Star break, buys AT LEAST 5 games, they haven't even interviewed all 20 guys, that's going to take some time, making a decision on all players, more time, suspension then hearing the appeals for all the players, they aren't going to hear appeals and render yay or nay piecemeal, they'll hear all cases and announce all verdicts on all appeals at one time, thats going to take a long time b/c they Player's Union will be backing this up

I agree they should get PEDs out but the way MLB is doing it, is piss poor, make tests that catch offenders, stay up with it, don't go off heresay and eyewitness testimony, people lie, they are "encouraged" to say certain things, end all they are unreliable, it MIGHT guide you to the offenders but then its up to you to PROVE it

If you're mad that Braun beat your system, don't have idiots taking samples, and doing stupid things like taking those samples home, its called chain of evidence for a reason, and while this isn't a court of law, thats the next step and there goes your credibility if it does, have protocols and stick to them

Test him every week if you really want to catch him, but don't throw a hissy fit and start circumventing the rules

Rant over, Cruz misses no time this year, if ever, but questions remain long enough that he re-signs with Texas for 2 years and on the cheap

the braun suspension makes me extremely nervous about cruz! i fear that he'll be selfish and opt to take a deal and miss the rest of the season so it wont affect his free agency as bad instead of appealing and hope to finish the season and serve the suspension at the beginning of next season and help his CURRENT team out this year. forgive me if i find that very selfish

Selfish?? You only want him playing, so YOUR team has a chance at the playoffs, so YOU can feel good!
Not 1 guy on this team would forfiet a chance to go FA to sign with the HIGHEST bidder.

This is BIG business, would you damage your chances of Cashing in on FA (probable his only chance) to be set for the rest of his Life. $40-50-$100 million? Some crazy numbers out there:rollseyes:

If Cruz bought or used the illegal PEDs he needs to do his time as soon as possible. Putting off a suspension sends the wrong message. Plus the FA market for former PEDs users will change significantly in light of the sweeping suspensions coming. Melky Cabrera will be the "test" for future PED users on the FA market. Dude was hitting .346 on the juice and this year he is hitting .281....281 is respectable yes, but not for how much Toronto paid for. Braun was tearing it up for years and led the NL in HRs last year. This year, presumably "clean" under the microscope he has had DL stints and played only 61 games hitting 9 HRs. Big difference isn't it? Are his DL stints due to him being off the juice? Don't know but it does raise questions:scratch: Maybe Braun goes back to being a 30-35 HR a year player and still stays above .300 for a seaon...but the big BUT is will he be able to play the normal 151-154 games a season? Probably not and that will affect his numbers. He could be without the juice a 20-25 HR a year guy with a .285 average. Still not shabby, but those numbers don't deserve the long term contract and big money he negotiated and was awarded.

Now Nelson Cruz. He is not getting those hammy strains and pulls and just last year put in a respectable 159 games. That is 30 MORE games than his average pull in previous seasons. He has not been on the DL this year at all. He has also matched his total for HRs from last year. His best was in 2009 with 33 in 128 games (pretty good) but since then it has been in the range of the low 20's to 30 for the entire season. One might say he is ahead his normal pace because he is playing more games, but the flip side is how did he get so healthy to the point where in just one year and older he is playing 30 more games:scratch:

Have never and will never care what people decide to put into their own bodies. However if you know the rules and decide to do it anyway, then you have to deal with the consequences. Braun is a sleazeball to me. Not because he used PEDs, but because how he acted after he was busted the first time. You cannot trust this man at all. In 2012 he bet his life he had not put anything of the sort in his body. A year later he sheepishly mutters something about making a mistake. A mistake is farting loudly in public when you think it will be silent. It's not knowingly taking a substance you know is banned by your sport.

Braun got what he deserved. If MLB has any proof that Cruz failed a test, then he deserves whatever he gets as well. Throwing people under the bus, because you are too weak of a person to admit you used PEDs is pathetic. I look at Braun no differently than Roger Clemens or Barry Bonds. Just another scumbag liar.

Honestly i will be shocked if Cruz or anyone else is suspended this year. They got Braun now because he refused to talk and kept delaying MLB's investigation process. I'm pretty sure he is guilty and would have gotten hammered eventually, but his non-compliance was basically a big fat middle finger to Bug Selig and the rest of baseball. As I have said before, when Biogenesis came out, Cruz was the only guy who publicly came out and said that he would cooperate with baseball's investigation. I think that action alone will keep baseball from doing anything to him this year or possibly keep him from getting suspended at all (or at the very least he will have the player's union behind him to keep the suspension away until the off season). The only thing we can do now is wait, but I think Cruz won't be going anywhere.

with next season having a big contract possibility I wouldn't be surprised to se Cruz cut a Braun-type deal accepting a 50 to 60 game suspension now so that he goes into next season able to sign and play

The max penalty for a first offense is 50 games. If he cuts a deal it will be considerably less than that considering the deal Braun just cut.

I still say he misses zero games this year.

you are probably right but if he is facing a 50 game suspension then as far as his pocket is concerned it would be better for him to get it over with now instead next season. teams will be reluctant to sign a player facing a suspension of that length

lol. looks like we know what type of person you are! ;) just giving you a hard time. my point is, thats not much of a team player and i promise you his teammates would look at it as selfish. maybe they wouldnt say it publicly, but inside the club house it would be viewed as such. especially if he were to do this during a pennant race. it might be a different story if they werent in contention.

For a positive test - yes. However, Weiner stated this process wouldnt follow the outlines that everyone had in place. So its really a crap shoot.

"Weiner also said the commissioner's office isn't bound by the terms of the joint drug prevention and treatment program -- which calls for 50- and 100-game suspensions followed by a lifetime ban for three failed drug tests -- because the players involved in the Biogenesis case did not fail tests and are being investigated for "non-analytical" reasons."

well anyone who would sign a multi-million dollar contract and then violate team confidence by using PED's is already pretty selfish

$$$$$$$ talks.
Would get a larger contract w/o everything "looming". IMO.

if they offered him the choice of serving a 40 to 50 game suspension now or wait until next year and possibly face a 50 to 100 game suspension to open next season and the loss of a potential big contract because of the suspension, I bet he opts for doing it now.

I've already told you he won't be facing a 100 game suspension.

its true, MLB is making this shit up as they go

if they determine that he lied then they could treat this as a second offense which could land him a 100 game suspension.

that's what they say mlb wants to do with AROD but they would treat it as a 3rd offense which earns a life-time suspension
