They might try and do this with the likes of Casas, Wilyer Abreu and/or David Hamilton instead of a straight prospect deal like they did with CWS. The Sox have a lot of redundancy in their system and could afford to move some, as well.

I don’t think they will pay the going rate for Burnes. He’s also a Boras guy and the Sox have a notoriously bad history with Boras. I’m guessing the Sox might pull a Flaherty or Buehler instead while focusing on a RH power bat to replace Tyler O’Neil.

I’m fine with a one year guy

My preference is Jordan Montgomery but a guy like burhler is ok too

I like Abreu. Kid has power and won a Gold Glove last year. If they move Rafaela back to CF, the Sox will have a very good defensive OF. That helps a pitching staff that might or might not be good. If the price on Burnes gets silly, I'd rather see them sign one of the lower tier, Jack Flaherty or Walker Buehler.

Don’t forget they have a top 5
Overall prospect in Roman Anthony coming for rf

Having Duran and ced already means a really good defensive of as well

Nice to see the farm system finally growing a crop again. Anthony is the #1 overall prospect on a lot of lists. And Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell. All three could be playing in Fenway by June. The sweetest thing is, other than Yoshida, no one in the lineup will be over 30 years old. Losing Kyle Teel hurt as catcher is a weak spot but they'll manage. I've seen some Sox fans raging about losing Teel. Guess they forgot Blake Swihart.

Nooooooooooooo. His numbers are beginning their decline. He's going to be a very old 34 and get $36,000,000. Trevor Story 2.0.

Yeah, I''d like to see Devers play 1st or DH real soon. Arenado stayed at 3rd too long. But Meyer or Campbell can play 3b if they are ready. I don't want to see the Sox with another bloated contract. Alex Bregman is a better fit but will cost big bucks. I'd love to see the Sox with a flexible payroll. No desire to see Duran or Anthony trot off to another city like Mookie and Xander.

Yeah I’m not sure how to move yoshida without taking a deal like that

Maybe Kc with Renfroe and stratton costing a bunch for negative war

They’d be increasing 2 wins for nothing

I'm actually happy with the lineup as is. If Story and Vaughn Grissom can stay healthy, they can take the middle iF. Casas at 1st and can be a huge trade chip at the trading deadline. Outfield is rock solid, even without Roman Anthony. Yoshi and Conner Wong aren't all stars but they are okay. Still need another starter. Crochet is nice and Tanner Houck is solid. Kutter Crawford was better than his 16 losses indicate. I'm not sure about Brayan Bello yet. One more is definitely needed as there's no one on the farm.

The big problem is that the Sox play in the same division with the Yanks, O's and Jays.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Craig Breslow appeared on WEEI and said that “Rafael Devers is our third baseman and we are really excited about that.”
There has been rampant speculation this off-season that the Red Sox are looking to add a third baseman and move Devers to first base; however, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said those conversations never happened with Devers. Now Breslow is stating firmly that Devers will indeed be the starting third baseman in 2025. Perhaps he will move at some point in his career but that doesn’t figure to be happening next year.

I have to remind myself that Devers is only 27. He can play third for a couple more years but by the time he's30, he should move to 1st.
