Trading Cam Smith might be something the Cubbies might regret. I watched him with Florida State in the CWS. He can hit and won't be in the minors for long.

Looks like they got him for free. A pure salary dump for the Cubs. Pure and simple.

And I suspect this is the first ever Cody 4 Cody trade in MLB history.

A handful teams probably don't think he is worth that salary.

Depends on what version they get. Two years ago or last year. Last year he wasn’t good. I’m not sure why Chicago added $5M too. Even if you want to shed salary and start younger guys they gave him away and shed $5M off this year. Crazy

No disagreement, but with the money he can spend has the advantage it's far easier for him to get IN the playoffs each season. Also helps to have elite or at least stud SPs for that crapshoot and often he does not have them which is his fault.

Playoffs are a different game from the regular season. Similar to limit poker vs no limit poker. Same mechanics, but a TOTALLY different game. Or cross country. That final leg of the race is a different sport than it is off the gun.
