True but gotta keep the back door channels open.
No, I just think all the shit about small market teams was bullshit. He wants what everyone else wants. A championship without having to be the man.

You could be right but not being the man means less of a pay check when he hits FA.

Not a big market city which takes out LA and SF. Seattle and SD would be an ideal fit with maybe Arizona in the mix.
I think the big market thing was just drumming up interest. 98% chance he ends up on the Dodgers with his WBC teammates.

Shit thing is could have had Walker for half the price of Alonso
In a way I’m glad they didn’t get Walker and Alonso. It’s not cause I don’t like them but give me Mitch Garver vibes (in Seattle) and if they signed Walker or Alonso and they turn to crap then we can kiss them ever raising payroll to WS contender levels.

20mil to Walker is a bargain. I get giving 40+ to Alonso and craps out but 20mil a yr to a solid 1B for 3yrs is a steal. We're 2yrs into not raising payroll so we're well on our way for signing trash players to fall short of 54%

All of these FA are bargains when you think about it. Contracts aren’t going to go down especially for guys they will need. Plus honestly there isn’t such a thing as too expensive when you have a drastic need. I still think 3B is much more important but overall offense is a desperate need.

The chances the staff is going to repeat 2024 is slim to none. Someone is going to get hurt or regress and I think Jerry and co think the same thing cause it makes no sense that Hancock hasn’t been traded. IMO the Mariners need to get behind closed doors and decide if they want to move Hancock to a high leverage bullpen role or trade him. It doesn’t help him or the team stashing him in Tacoma. Him being the 6th man is great on paper but as we saw last year they needed him for a spot start but couldn’t because he didn’t have enough rest.

I see a regression if nothing is done. It'll be a long summer of crap games.
