With his staff pursuing yet another investigation into performance-enhancing drugs, Commissioner Bud Selig defended baseball's drug-testing program on the eve of the All-Star game and insisted "this sport is cleaner than it's ever been."

Selig declined to detail timing for decisions in the probe of the closed anti-aging clinic Biogenesis, accused of distributing performing-enhancing drugs. MLB could attempt to discipline former MVPs Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun along with other players.

Baseball began drug testing for the 2003 season, added penalties the following year, banned amphetamines in 2006 and started HGH blood testing last year. Critics said baseball didn't move quickly enough.

My opinion is just so jaded about PED in all sports.

We all know it's everywhere in the NFL. I mean, come on now.

MLB has instituted all of this testing, but the procedures and time tables for the testing are a joke. Only an idiot would let themselves get caught in one of the pre-scheduled tests. If there's one thing we should all know by now, it's that the chemists designing and supplying the PED are always way ahead of the testing agencies. They know exactly how long a compound will stay in a person's system and pop positive on any test.

If MLB were serious about keeping PED out of the game, they'd have an agency do truly random testing throughout the year.

It's not in the best interest of MLB to ever try to eradicate PED use. If not for the congressional stupidity led by a handful of disgusting politicians looking for easy votes from sheeple, MLB probably wouldn't have even gone through the motions of instituting the current joke of a testing system.

Congress knows better than to go after the NFL for PED use, though. Doing so would kill the NFL.

Does this sound clean to you? Since the start of the 2010 season, Miguel Bautista has more HRs than anyone else.

He's no Manny Ortiz though.

Your point? Just because 20 or so players are known to have used PEDs means the sport as a whole isn't cleaner?
