flash in the pan.

i expect a major regression next season.

Why?? give a reason!!!

It is not like he is only speed and power... He hits for a very good average and he walks a lot... He was 2nd in OBP this season and first last season... So even if he does get hurt and loses speed and even if he regresses in the power department, he is still a patient enough hitter to remain tops in OBP, which is enough to be an elite player... Will he be willie mays?? who knows, he has a long way to go... But he is on his way not just to be a HOF player, but to be one of the best of all time, maybe even the best player of all time...

He reminds me much more of Tony Conigliaro. I just hope he does not turn into Tony C though...

Why? Trout has a much more well-rounded resume and has shown a broader skill set so far than Conigliaro had.

Plus playing in the weaker AL West is a plus.

I think he will put on weight..looks like he did last year.

wouldn't that be some thing? he will get a lot of money..and maybe wont even get a snif of a play off game.

he might set a standard for most money paid out and return for play off victorys.
a new stat I just made up DPPV

dollars per playoff victorys. iam sure he will be the all time leader in that.
iam sure the WAR boys will jump on board with this new stat.....oo wait. they don't think winning figures into the mix. winning is just what happens after the ump calls the last out..not really important

no you are. you wont admit winning is a major factor .

that's the goal of every player.
the longer the season goes. it becomes greater.
and #3 and #4 hitters have the most. Hitting to get on base and hitting to drive in runs are so different.

Winning is a product of all the things which happen on the field. Contributions toward winning are contributions toward winning independent of all other contributions around them. We delve into the numbers because it gives us a good idea of how teams win. When it comes down to it, though, players cannot control their context, and so when we assess each player's contributions to winning, the end result can't be a major factor.

And, while it's not relevant, I did play the game. I played the game right through high school. I wasn't a bad hitter by the end of it. Struck out too much, but good average, good power, and a lot of walks. I do regret not playing in college, but I still play slow-pitch two or three days a week to at least somewhat satisfy my fix.

Mike Trout Gets Extension

6 years 144M with the Angels that will take him till he's 28. Which i'm sure, he'll get a huge deal after that. Fucking crazy

Why the push for teams to extend guys who aren't looking at Free Agency? Both the Trout and Miggy deals seem unnecessary.

He will, in his next deal. Probably get a 10-year deal for close to 300M similar to Miggy's contract. This is just the start

Trout is going to end up making about 500 million in his career.

He's going to get a deal close to 400 million after this is done unless his play totally drops off during this deal

I agree. Will probably destroy A-Roid and Miggy's money when it comes time for that 2nd and final contract

Normally with the younger players the train of thought is lock them up before arbitration and get a discount on the first few years the player would be eligible for free agency.

On Miggy IMO it was a knee jerk reaction to Scherzer turning down his contract. Basically telling Boris to fuck off. You will not sign this then we are gonna spend the money on a player with a different agent.

So many teams are spending money these days and no one wants to lose their farm grown talent if they are studs. Trout is an Angel for a very long time. Smart move based on the stats he looks to produce. Cano deal does not look so bad for the Mariners now...........
