It's an exaggeration at best to say that 70% of baseball players are juicing, though when I look at the Cardinals batting order I do have to wonder. 2 thru 6 in that lineup are juicing motherfuckers.

I always said Lance Armstrong was going to get exposed for what he was and people just rolled their eyes at me (my wife still refuses to believe it). I say the same thing about Pujols. He's relying heavily on his inner circle to keep his dirty secrets but as soon as someone gets offended or wants too much money, the truth will start coming out and a swarm of investigative journalists will finish him off.

Lance Armstrong/Ryan Braun, same scumbags, different sport.

Yeah, basically. Except the scope of Lance Armstrong's righteous indignation was much wider. Lies, deceit, intimidation and bullying - all with a needle stuck in his arm and his nose stuck in the air while profiting to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

What's funny is guys like Greg Lemond were saying all along that Cheatstrong was either doping or he was an alien being; that what he did was humanly impossible. He got reviled for it just like Jose Canseco did for telling the truth about 'roids in baseball. Remember that creep Palmeiro? Canseco shoulda snapped that finger off when he stuck it in his face.

Now that Armstrong has been brought into the discussion, there is one issue that isn't mentioned much: The code among atheletes to not rat on each other.

When Canseco came out and said everyone was doing it, he got blasted.

When Landis admitted the entire US Cycling team had elaborate blood trasnfusion systems, he got blasted.

When Armstrong finally apologized, he did not name names, but basically said, you could not win the Tour without juicing - meaning everyone is doing it, so why can't I. Which leads to my next question: If the entire filed is juiced, isn't it still remarkable that he won so many in a row? Or, was he just the best at juicing?

In a related aside, can someone explain to me the difference between a "rat", and a "whistle blower". I ask, as, in respect to the former, it is always a bad thing, and, for the latter, it is usually thought of as a good thing.

Hmm?

You are incredibly naive about a subject you pretend to be an expert on.

No problem in baseball, huge problem in football. Right.

Yeah, no I'm not, and you obviously are too dim to understand where I'm coming from.

I just don't think it's a big deal. It's not a magic potion, they're just drugs. If a player is willing to risk their reputation and their body, that's their choice. They're just drugs. And the league(s) are never going to eradicate PED use. The chemists are always going to be ahead of the testers. It's always going to be present. The leagues just have to do their best to keep evolving and improving the testing program to keep up as best they can. MLB has gone out of their way to suspend players who didn't even fail tests. They're obviously taking the issue seriously. So I don't see a problem.

I don't care about the PED use in football. Let them juice all they want if it makes the sport more palatable. I just think the hypocrisy is pathetic on the part of the fans and media. Why is PED use so offensive in baseball, but not football, basketball or hockey? It's bullshit.

The issue with both of them isn't their PED use, though. Who really gives a shit about that? Especially in Armstrong's case. It's their actions upon being exposed as juicers that makes them scumbags.

Absolutely. Stripping him of the titles was a joke. He beat a level playing field. If other guys had drugs that weren't *as* good, that's their problem. It's almost part of the competition in that pseudo-sport.

Palmeiro's another hypocritical scumbag with his "I did not have sex with that woman!" comment...

Whoops, sorry! Wrong quote. :laugh3:

Trout has over 200 runs, over 60 hrs, over 80 sbs and almost 200 rbis, by the age of 21..

Are we seeing one of the best hitters to ever play the game? granted, a lot of years left but also nobody has started off at this pace.

I went with great. There's no doubt in my mind he can become one of the greatest of all time though.

No argument that this guy is a stud and off to a fantastic start to his career but there should be a 5th option to vote for and that is "who the hell knows". There are a few kids who are already being labelled as "greats" and it is unfair and premature. I would rather wait and see what happens and talk about "all-time great" and all that stuff near the end or after a career is over. At least until he gets into his 30's.

Right now the kid loves and really enjoys playing the game. He's definitely no flash in the pan. But there really isn't a lot of pressure for him to perform. I'm enterested in seeing how well he does after he receives a $200,000,000 contract. The pressure will certainly be on him to help produce a championship for his team. Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying he won't be able to handle the pressure by any means. I just want to see how, if any, it will affect or change his style of play. I've seen to many players with large contracts try to do to much, for their teams, and render themselves most ineffective for their teams. I personally believe he will handle the pressure well as he seems much brighter than most players I've seen. Then again you never know how things will work out, only time will tell. I have to say I enjoy watching him play more than anyone else in the game today.

Amazing how this kid was selected 25th overall and was passed on by many teams in the first round a few years ago. When all is said and done he may go down as the best player to ever play the game.

He reminds me much more of Tony Conigliaro. I just hope he does not turn into Tony C though...
