I guess it doesn't matter that this young QB just got serious surgery again, and rushed back to win and now is being tormented by everyone. I think he deserves a pass if hasn't responded perfectly in every situation OR if he has developed some sorta entitlement complex(needs to mature out of that). This franchise has been nothing....for many years, he did have a large role in turning it around.

Skinem... serious question... Are we really turned around??

We are 3-10. About to fire the head coach, and will be semi rebuilding under a new coach next year. He gave us an exciting season, but aside from saying we are not looking for a QB, RB or TE in the draft... how are we markedly better than most of the past 13 years aside from not being in cap hell the coming off season??

He is saying we were chit the past 13 years and in one fail swoop, RG3 lead us to an NFCE title. In case you weren't watching (sarcasm), Griffin on one leg took the bull by the horns and lead the way. His ability, not so much his QB skills, enabled us to win the division last year. His coach, did a dis-service to him as you well know and here we are in year 2. Griffin not playing well, the team not playing well, the coaching, well, simply put it stinks! But hey, let's put all this on Griffin now. Let's starts Cousins and crown him the franchise if he goes 2-1 or 3-0. Good grief! Worse case scenario would be Cousins getting injured behind the worst line in football and we coup nothing for him this off season. Nobody has really mentioned that. I hope KC does well, really well so we get value in return when we trade him. Griffin is our franchise QB and future of this team whether you choose to see this or not.

I was glad when Cousins was drafted. Still remember being in Occoquan and looking on my phone at that pick and yelling YES!! Like Cali said, I just would like to see the team win. Not sure I believe that is possible with Dan as owner.

We have had three coaches here who I know can coach and we couldn't win regulary with any of them.

Bengals Andy Dalton, Panthers Cam Newton lead a pack of young QBs on critical third-year campaigns - ESPN The Magazine - ESPN

As stated previously - the third year is the key for a lot of young NFL QBs (in spite of what they did or did not do in the previous two seasons). This will be particularly true for RG3.

I can see why people would have their doubts about him. However - I would not just automatically write him off at this time. Going into year 3 there are a lot of things that can be done to improve his play including 1. He should be better physically 2. He can work with coaches and others to address his flaws - it is all pretty much on him & 3. surround him with more talent. Time will tell.

I agree that there are organizational problems with the Skins. However - in terms of past coaches I believe that you need to qualify a few things. Gibbs II had some issues, but I believe his biggest problem was that he was also given personnel duties (which he did not have previously) & for the most part did terribly in that role. He also was not forced out in any way - he left because of the S. Taylor situation and some of his own family issues.

Marty was just flat out not given enough time since Vinny & Danny were enamored with Spurrier. Marty was winning during the tail end of his reign.

I truly believe a lot of this has to do with not having the correct organizational structure. Therefore - when Shanahan is fired I hope (more than anything else) that their first priority is finding a true GM (not Allen) & then having that person hire the coach. No more of these power hungry ex-SB winning coaches or anything similar to this. If nothing else - it has been proven that this does not work with the Redskins.

I agree. Here's the problem. What GM would want to work for Snyder and this circus?

They will find someone - perhaps an asst-GM with some other organization. If nothing else (although this would not be my choice) they could go with Smith who is currently with the Skins & served in that role with the Chargers - you could do worse.

BTW - while they are at it - totally revamp & improve the scouting organization & ensure that the freaking coach does not have ultimate say so in personnel decisions (they have a vote & input - nothing more).

Supposedly the Skins have one of the best scouting squads in the League under Morocco Brown. He is highly thought of. Honestly, since we haven't had any money to work with in the last few years, he's had little to scout other than college players. We have done OK on the draft under shanahan. A couple of wiffs, but a couple of really good picks also. Even here, we haven't had much to work with. Mostly mid and late round picks. Don't care how good you are, those picks are not high percentage.

Guys.... forget about RG3 for a moment. Truth is, we are in a very precarious position at the moment. Shanahan gets fired, we are all pretty sure on this. Questions become...

1. Does Dan actually hire a real GM. I like Allen, but he is just a PR guy.
2. Who do we get as coach?? If its Brilles, I think we are in for a world of hurt. It sets a bad tone for things going forward.

3. And this is the most important part.. .does Dan reinsert himself into every day operations. With whats looking like decent cap space, it would be all too tempting for him to go play Madden with the roster again.

As much as we might all hate it, Another year of Shanahan might save us from doing something really stupid at the moment.

I am so confused at this point on the right direction. I change daily. I see no way for Shanahan to be back. I've come to believe that the real issue is between Kyle and RG3 and Mike has turned it into his issue. If Kyle were to leave, then MAYBE Mike could survive. I just don't see it tho.

My bet right now is that Shanahans leave. Allen gets promoted to President of Football Ops. Morocco Brown is promoted to GM (he has been interviewed by 2 different teams for this position). Together, they start the coaching search. It won't be Briles. He has no interest in leaving Texas. Whomever they hire will be just the Head Coach. I expect we will have the next HC in place by late January, unless he is on the staff of a playoff team that has had a SB run (quite likely).

Cousins will be traded assuming we can at least get a 3rd rounder for him. We just need to rebuild the core of this team. A 3rd round pick should net us a starting OL, if we pick wisely. One of the first items of the new FO will be to re-sign a couple of key vets, which isn't going to be easy. Rak, Hall, Riley need to be priority one. These guys really have to be questioning if they want to go through this with us at this point, but we need to get them locked up. Along with Kerrigan and Cofield, they are the nucleus to building our defense, no matter what scheme we employ. Then, there are our secondary FAs that would be nice to re-sign.

I like how he concludes this piece by pointing out how Dan needs to hire a true GM

Snyder, RG3 made mistakes, but this Redskins disaster is all Shanahan(s) - CBSSports.com

Not sure how much of this is accurate, but it kind of makes sense & also makes me feel a certain amt of disdain for Kyle Shanahan. Oh well - Schlereth said it on ESPN yesterdy - as much as the players have huge egos - most NFL coaches have much, much bigger ones. Like father - like son.

Agreed. No one wants to take responsibility for this mess. A lot of blame to go around but ultimately, the guy with all the power (Mike) is responsible. He has to go and so does his Son.

B Mitch just got some details out of Mike on inside the lockeroom on espm 980. Audio should be posted to their audio vault later.

Basically B Mitch said players would look at a coach differently after learning he wanted to quit on them. Mike responds emphatically ...

[ame=""][/ame]

Goes on to elaborate Dan and he had a disagreement over the direction of the franchise. That Dan wasn't going anywhere and that it would take him 5 seconds to clean out his office. Still confusing story ... but this is the most he has shared on the topic so far.

Time To Fire All Of Them

No point in keeping the Shanahans or Haslett for 1 more game
