Well, if Riley doesn't get it done, I'm sure we'll all have something to say about it.

I'm good and on board, guess I was expecting more. Probably from all the crap I was seeing on the boards. I'm good with giving it some time and see what happens.

What if he just brings in randoms as assistants?

What if he doesn't? What if his assistants are "knock it out of the park" choices? Proven winners who would make even Bo look like a genius. (I know, that bar ain't real high anyway.)

I say give him and who ever it is he brings with him a fair chance.

Well I've been thinking about this all day and I can't see SE not already having something else up his sleeve before he pulled the trigger and let out the news about Riley.

While I'm banking on that, I have to say that since I was hopeful to see Bo canned since last season, and I got what I wanted, that I have to be accepting of the next guy and at least give him a chance.

That's what I'm really getting at. In a round-about way.

We don't know anything about where we're headed until we see the staff.

Dammit JJM, don't forget the results. I will get over the shock and get behind him as well. I firmly believe he is inheriting much better talent then he had during the past few years. I just hope the change in offensive and defensive schemes isn't as painful as when we switched from option to west coast. Didn't Oregon State run a 3-4 defense? I would not be really supportive of that as there is not enough beef up front.

yea, we don't have the LBs for a 3-4. I think he gets in a good LB coach and we'll be golden though, we have talent there, it just hasn't been coached the best under Bo.

Some of you guys are going to feel like a dry cracked asshole about dogging Coach Riley once he gets up and running, taking for granted you're not already like that now of course

:L So is Nick Saban. Being a former pro coach does not in and of itself mean that you are going to be a bad coach at the college level.

The last two coaches had NFL ties, and Callahan actually had some very good success. How did that turn out?! On the other hand, Pelini could have had great success if he wasn't too stubborn to hire some solid assistants.

I'm going to run out of hands after this, but take a gander at Riley's records at Oregon State. Considering Nebraska doesn't have a recruiting edge here like in some of those southern schools, we can expect the same kind of bullshit here. Bo is a better coach than Riley is. This is a couple of levels below a lateral hire.

I stopped worrying about your assessments of college football a long time ago so you might as well save it. Oh, and you completely ignored my point.

Riley is revered by his peers, meaning other actual coaches not some random peter puffer, let's see what an actual HC can do before we throw in the towel right off the bat just because we didn't hire Bill Belichick
