Its just a whiff. Its not a urban or a Saban like we expected. Its not as big of a fish as it should have been. At best I think this is a lateral move. At worst we are going to be "rebuilding" "so a 5-6 is to be expected in the first year" I am just really let down by the powers that be. I expected a bike for Christmas and got socks. A 61 year old coach who has been picking his ass at a shit school in Oregon state. For the last 14 years can not and won't be the answer we need. I say that with high hopes I eat crow. And I will gladly ask for seconds.

Not all posters here menstruate, but when they do it's Husker Red.

Word has it Nebraska is looking for one good last run out of 61yo Mike Riley. It just seems a little underwhelming. Welcome Pro-style offense or some sort of hybrid.

Anybody expecting to hear about a staff tomorrow will likely be disappointed. My guess is he'll say he's gonna evaluate what's already here first.

as long as we get good assistance and recruit hard we should be good. and next year he should get about 8 wins . idk he wasn't who I wanted but let's be honest there wasn't a slam dunk hire our there.

the biggest issue Are defense qb and the josh Mitchells that are still left. I won't be surprise if we lose TA. My biggest fear is if we struggle for 2-3 year's and look worse than bo previous years I don't think a pro style is gonna work but a hybrid form might. I'm willing to give mike 4 years after that sink or swim

That shouldn't take long. Watch the last few games and he'll know where to start making the cuts.

This is a swing and a miss.

Can we get BO back?

No. Bo wasn't gonna work out. It didn't appear he was ever gonna let the program come between he and his friends.

Just hope this huge gamble of a hire pays off.

Here's the thing with Frost, I highly doubt he is locked into the spread offense. If he wants to be a HC, he should learn a variety of styles and if he's a good coach, he can take Riley's playbook and teach it to the kids and call plays. plus he could throw in his own touches to keep the offense his own.

I'm not saying Frost will come, I'm just saying it's not impossible.

I am more than slightly pessimistic about this hire. A few things I read about Riley's OSU teams include: antiquated and slow pace offense, he is very loyal to his staff, poor clock management, wavering Beaver fan support for him. Add all this with his recent teams W/L records and I am still not even on the fence about Riley. Of course I will support him and the Huskers but I hate to see a repeat of the Billy C. years. I hope for the best but will expect the worse - the definition of Bogatory!

i have no problem with a slow paced offense. i just read he has hardly ever had negative turnover margins in games. that's a huge improvement right there if he can get that going here.

defensively though, he's got to get a splash hire at DC. his D's have been mediocre at best, get a really good DC and keep Kaz and Warren and I think he has a chance to really do something here at NU.

I just don't understand this.

I can guarantee you if you gave me the option to keep Bop or hire this guy I would have kept Bop.

That is just not worth firing him over.

My thoughts exactly. Riley is far far far far far far far far from a slam dunk.

I wonder if Eichorst even gave Frost an offer. If I had a choice between this guy and Frost, I would rather gamble on Frost.
