Good first half for the Hawks. As great as Marble is playing I get worried when he makes 3's like this because then he starts falling in love with them and he isnt a great 3 point shooter ( today aside ). Needs to start taking it to the basket in the second half, he already passed up a wide open drive to the bucket for a dunk by taking a step back 3 in transition that he missed. Iowa is NOT a 3 point shooting team and is highly unlikely to continue to shoot the ball like this so if they continue to chuck it up from 3 look for Michigan to make a run, if the Hawks start driving and pounding it down low they should win by 15+.

Great points, it's still nice to see Iowa drain some 3's every now and then.

Ya it frustrates me and I'm not even a fan. Hard seeing a guy with such a gift in talent and athleticism do nothing. Stauskas having another poor game but at least he's noticeable. For all I know Robinson got hurt after his opening dunk and hasn't played... O ya he backboard bricked that 3 15 min later.

LeVert and Irvin are having solid efforts. Robinson is in the middle of another predictable no-show. He's replaced Hardway nicely as far as frustrating talented players goes. Better defender IMO though. I had some hopes for Stauskas to be a bigger impact distributing today. After his altered game early this week at home. I liked the change, as its obvious teams will be focused on limiting his catch and shoot chances. Wasn't planning on a road win, but id like to see some fight the last twelve minutes.

His draft stock shouldn't matter for another year atleast. He's nowhere near a finished product. Defenses have adjusted, now it's his turn.(he had 8 assists earlier this week. "Ineffective since" isn't exactly accurate.)

The truth is that Michigan is a pretty bad defensive team, and they've managed to get lucky by playing teams when they are cold.

Purdue: 2-14 on 3s in a 9 point win
Iowa: 2-10 on 3s in a an 8 point win
Wisconsin: 7-18 on 3s in a 7 point win
Penn State: 5-19 on 3s in 13 point win
Nebraska: 7-20 on 3s in a 1 point win
Minnesota: 5-19 on 3s in a 3 point win

All of those teams had a ton of open looks, and all of them were off their game. Michigan is a damn good offensive team (#3 on KenPom), but if their opponent shoots well, they are fucked.

Iowa's 10-17 today on 3s, and even though they aren't shooting well within the arc, the are tearing apart Michigan on the offensive boards. This is the archetype of how you beat Michigan.

Yeah, Id recommend hitting shots. Michigan does not crash the offensive boards. They drop back to prevent transition buckets. If you can hit shots in the half court game, you can beat this team. They don't foul much, so taking a game from the foul line isn't a great gameplan either.

Carver Hawkeye is becoming one of the best home court advantages in college basketball. Michigan was going to have a hard time after Iowa lost at home to Ohio State.

Kind of a flukey win IMO since we shot it SO well from 3. Regardless Ill take it. The reality is that IF Iowa can consistently find a way to make 35-40% of their 3 point shots their just arent many teams that can beat them. With the depth, the length and the defense the only thing really holding the Hawks back from being elite is their perimieter shooting. Hopefully this is a forebearer of things to come but I wouldnt hold my breath. Usually what happens is we have a game like this, think we can shoot it outside all of the sudden and then get beat in the next game because we stop attacking and start jacking.
