Well, earlier in the year, before the trade deadline, teams had a higher urgency. The Yanks had no idea what they would get from Arod upon return or how long they would have him. Combine that with the absolute shit production they were getting at third.

I'm not saying they were getting any sort of top level prospect, but they would have gotten more value before the trade deadline.

Young is a useless clown, with no power and shitty defense. They could have gotten more for him before the trade deadline, but this is better than nothing.

The salaries in baseball are out of control and Selig is a complete idiot/asshole. Paying the kind of money for egomaniical man-children is absurd and teh Phillies are one of the worst clubs on the planet for this bullshit.
