I am not a fan of it, no.

Not at all sure how to correct that though.

Is Leonard Jewish? Were his friends he was playing with Jewish?

you know what, it doesn't actually matter.

he apparently doesn't even know what a k*ke is...he's an ignorant dumbass.
The term really only applies to illiterate Jews.

Comes from Yiddish for circle. Cuz the non reading Jews signed their name with a circle. And Jews that could read liked to make fun of ignorant rubes.

I’ve never heard a non Jew use the term in my life.

Such a weird choice of words for the big man who I’ve always viewed as kindve a pussy. (He cried on the sidelines of regular season games in college.)

Also always blamed him for Bruce Weber getting fired.

He played like a bitch the whole season before he left for the draft.

Kyle Larson used the N word with an A ending last year and basically had to sit out the rest of the year in NASCAR.
Just tried to google him to see if he’s back.

My phone though, it decided to auto correct. Not the Larson part....

Lol

Not sure if the term is really with an I or a Y, but I laughed.

I presume you also oppose black friends calling each other the n word?

I think in general people just need to be aware of their surroundings.

If you are behind closed doors with close friends and family? I don’t think it matters much.

In a public setting though?

I do think people should be more careful about what they say. Profanity, slurs, whatever. It might be cool with the person you are talking directly to, but in public (or steaming the internet) there are others to consider too.

I don’t really want to hear that if I am out with my young kids.

I understand that, but using derogatory words like k*ke should not be tolerated even if it is just with your closest friends.
Are you fn serious? Do you want everyones speech to be monitored 24/7? Everyone has the right to be stupid, words are not illegal, yet. Bunch of pussies.

Exactly. In private, friends and family decide for themselves what is okay and what isn't. In public, things are different and as you said, there are others to consider. If you slip up in public, you get to face those consequences, whether it's your wife kicking you under the table or finding yourself in a situation like Meyers Leonard is in.

Well,

If I were to post or live stream a slur and it got back to my employer I would be fired for sure.

A lot of people would be. A lot of people have been.

At the end of the day, it is up to the employer. But if they feel that his comments are offensive enough to hurt their business, they should have the right to fire him.

That isn’t “cancel culture”. That is a consequence for bad behavior.

A first offense for a single word shouldn't be a fire-able offense anywhere, especially as part of an expletive loaded back and forth while competing.

How things should be and how things are, are often very different. Whether or not a single word should be fireable, doesn't change the fact that in today's society with social media, livestreams, etc. the backlash can be great enough that a company can feel they have no choice.

I mean, think about it, we had a poster in this thread who thinks he should be able to tell others what can be said in private conversations between family and friends. There are a lot of people out there that are like him. Those kinds of people can make it very difficult for a company to keep an employee if something like that got out and tied to them.

You skip strike one and immediately go to strike two, one more stike he is out. But, he does remain in the batters box.

So, not much punishment after all. $50K is pocked change, he makes $9.8M. He makes almost 4 times that a week. Is the suspension without pay?

The NBA fined Miami Heat center Meyers Leonard $50,000 for using a racial slur while hosting a video game stream on Monday.

Leonard, 29, was recorded using an anti-Semitic slur during a live broadcast of Call of Duty on the streaming platform, Twitch. A clip of the incident went viral on social media Tuesday and drew swift condemnation from the Anti-Defamation League and the Heat.

New England Patriots star Julian Edelman, who is Jewish, published an open letter about the incident to Leonard on Wednesday.

Along with the fine, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement, obtained by PEOPLE, that Leonard will be required to participate in a cultural diversity program. Leonard will be suspended from all Heat facilities and team activities for one week.
__________

I saw nothing about being a paid suspension or not

It is though. That is the real world.

I am a teacher. If I bust out a slur on social media, or worse, in my classroom, I am fired. And I should be.

Bad behavior has consequences.
