I wish I had that at my fingers. He spoke to a couple of different outlets including ESPN after things started to get crazy and he went over all of that. I do not recall if it was his ESPN interview, or one of the others. I really wasn't paying that much attention to the story. He did go into some detail about how it started and how it got to that point and said it was the freedom of information search that dug all that up and lead him to that point. I'd check with his interviews about his piece if you want that.
Does it not seem a little weird that he "just so happened to be researching something from Urban Meyer in Florida in 2009" and that he "just so happened to decide to launch into a search about Zach Smith in 2015"?

Or that he reached out to her and she just so happened to have saved all these pictures and supposed text messages from over 3 years ago?

Before you go off about me being a blind homer or whatever, seriously ask yourself these questions. This is almost like a movie script.

No, none of that is hard to understand. Again, he explained how it began and I wasn't really paying much attention to it. But he's a reporter. It's kind of what they do. I have zero issues with it. The school and Meyer's people have all the resources they need to paint this as something sinister if that is indeed true and I'll be happy to bash him if they have something like that.

I flat out refuse to play these games you guys are playing. I not only will wait until I see a reason to fry Meyer, but the exact same holds true for McMurphy, Courtney, or anyone else in this 'story'. Once the facts are out there's plenty of time to dissect it all and slam whoever deserves it.

So a reporter who was fired and always had an agenda against Ohio State just stumbles across this supposed gold mine of a story, reaches out to the ex-wife 3 years after all of this supposedly happened, just happens to be fortunate enough that she has all of this supposed evidence that has never seen the light of day until now, then puts an article out with several major inaccuracies, and does it the night before he knew Urban Meyer would be at media day with dozens of microphones shoved in his face. This is all normal journalism?

It's "gotcha" journalism at its best

For a so called "investigative reporter" there was really no actual investigation here. He took only one side of the story and reported it was fact without any real concrete evidence to support his claim.

This is 11000% fact. He's had an anti-OSU agenda since the advent of media and it's well-documented. Now there's this. Not once did this "investigative reporter" reach out to Zach Smith, Shelly Meyer, Urban Meyer, Gene Smith, or any other coaches.

Anyone calling this garbage "investigative journalism" is kidding themselves. There was literally no investigation involved at all

He may be right on some of the things noted, but the fact that he's already had to go back and "edit" his story while making no public note of it until well after the fact, coupled with the fact that it's literally one person's side of a story that supposedly involves dozens of people is making it pretty obvious why he still doesn't have a real job since ESPN fired him.

That’s what he learned to do at ESPN. They don’t do any real investigation they just find the people that will fit their narrative and go from their and just spew shit out.

Earlier this year they released the name of a basketball player that was being investigated for sexual assault. No charges were filed at that time and they spun it that he was a starter when in fact he was a walk on.

It has everything to do with his initial story, and Meyer couldn't have been aware of what McMurphy's initial story said because it never happened. I'd be WAY more worried if Meyer had actually said "Yeah I knew about what McMurphy said happened", because that would mean there was an actual arrest.

None of this was Meyer's fault. He didn't beat Zach Smith's wife, he didn't keep her from pressing charges in 2015, and he didn't make up information and publish it as fact so the media could throw it in his face out of nowhere on media day.

The very fact that McMurphy has had to go back to his original story and edit it several times because of inaccuracies shows that he's a low end has-been that was desperate to get his career back on track.

The bold right here all you sensible (although it’s not many) OSU fans is why you are getting shit on here. Not many if any people on here think Urban should be fired. But absolute jackass homers like right here are making it impossible for anyone not unbiased to see it your way.

But no, call us homers because we can be objective to your bullshit.

I think I've been as clear as I can be that I don't think what you and your ilk are claiming as fact are indeed established fact so I will wait for the reports to be complete. What part of that are you not getting?

Much of what you guys are on about is stuff spewed on social media sites by so called 'connected' people who know someone who bumped into someone that one time had a sandwich next to someone in the story.

You asked how he got on this thing and I said I heard how it started, but wasn't paying enough attention, because really I don't care. OSU will for sure point out issues with his story if there are any. That's a huge part of their path out of this.

I'll also point out that just like a PR preformed statement doesn't mean it's false, a sportswriter with an agenda putting out a piece they brought up doesn't make it wrong. We will know if there is any other inaccuracy or how far off base he was when it all plays out. I just see no reason to jump the gun and fry him until we KNOW for sure. I think that's entirely fair.

Not once did OSU reach out to the fucking victim. Not in 2015, not in 2018, not last week when shit went south. And?

I'd also point out that McMurphy was reaching out to Meyer albeit publicly when they were asking him questions at media day. No one forced Meyer to lie at that time. That was a voluntary mistake.

Basically, if you're an Ohio State fan taking a "wait and see" approach to this fiasco, you're going to be labeled as an Urban Meyer ball sucker by the Urban Meyer/tOSU haters.

That’s an interesting side to take.

On the other hand you could just not have a dog in the fight and objectively think Urban Meyer fucked up in his 1) an most important, keeping a women beater on staff and 2) answering a question with a lie that can be proven false quickly (and was).

But you Bucknuts seem to just think anyone that objects your opinion is a “Urban Meyer/tOSU haters.”

I like ATF — think he is a good guy and even though he is a Buckeye fan and I’m a Michigan fan, we’ve had many normal conversations.

On this topic — there is no getting thru. I told him he is looking at with scarlet covered glasses and he says I’m looking at it with Maize glasses, even though I’ve said REPEATEDLY, Meyer shouldn’t be fired.

He is deadset on this being a witch hunt and it is the wife that is crazy. Meyer did everything right. Just the fact Zach Smith still had a job until now will get Meyer a suspension. The more they find out Meyer knew, the longer the suspension will be. If he didn’t report it at all to OSU, he probably won’t survive this. It is ridiculous, but it is the #metoo world we live in. All the heat should be coming down on Zach Smith. He is gone now, but he is only gone because of this story.

I have nothing personal against OSU or Meyer — football is entertainment, I don’t take it serious enough to wish ill will on someone. What has been reported has not cast a very good light on Meyer, the OSU program and the OSU athletic department. They will lose sponsors, as Meyer already has. If he is kept and they find out he knew and continued to keep him on his staff — they will deal with backlash from all the fanatical groups who will start telling sponsors they will boycott, blah, blah, blah. It is the same thing on repeat with so many different incidents — the news is flooded with reports of sexual assault charges, domestic abuse, etc. It is the WORST TIME IN HISTORY to have something like this going on, after the Greg Hardy, Ray Rice, the movie producer in Hollywood, etc etc.

I truly hope it is only a suspension for Meyer and the book gets thrown at Zach Smith. But I wouldn’t be shocked in the least bit if Meyer was fired.

Well true meyer/osu haters are going to hate on any position you take so yeah.

Those of us really without a dog in this hunt would say fuck yeah, someone with a rational sense to wait for facts and not get all knotted up in weird theories spun by 'connected' jackoffs from social media that know stuff.
