300 points between Fitz and Crabby last year... maybe they'll repeat, maybe not.

As for trades, I am now searching... looking for a Fitz/Crowell, Fitz/Langford for a WR2.... or even Gio/Fitz if that floats anyone's boat. Or a straight up deal with an RB for WR. JC=WR1, Langford, Gio, Crowell for a flex WR?

Or I'll hold tight and stream if Crabby turns to crappy.

This was my plan going in... unless a WR fell to where I liked the value... that didn't happen. Almost a couple times... but not quite.

I actually kind of like this strategy more than the 0-WR strategy... with this strategy you can control the trade market...

I'd be up for dealing Moncrief or Kevin White, but Crow or Langford ain't getting either of them.

Not so much to control the trade market (unless people start losing their RB's, maybe)

But I see a dozen WR on waivers right now I would start any given week. Then I'm sure there will be half a dozen more that come out of nowhere. I'm not worried yet.

Yep - there are some potential gems on waivers. The problem comes with the short bench here - who do you cut to make room?

That's why I said I wouldn't be afraid to drop Crabby if he doesn't look the same as last year.

But I'll take last year. Top ten in targets and red zone targets. Finished 19th in points.
Fitz was top 10 in points (and I'm sure, targets)... just old I guess.

The 10th and 19th WR in rounds 7 and 9? Yes I would accept that.

Even if they both fall to 20-25.

Just hope Hill doesn't let me down.... rough three weeks to start, but could be smooth sailing from there.

Well if Bandit will, I might as well too.

Rd1. AJ Green- I've long been a detractor for AJ, too much of a roller coaster for me. 25 points one week, 5 points the next 4. But after Lamar went at #9, there were no "stud" RB's, and he was the last of the "elite" WR's. This also changed my entire approach for the whole draft. Went in hoping for 2 of Miller, Charles, Shady, Ingram at 10 and 15..plan in the trash
2nd. Dez Bryant - if your going zero RB's, not much of a better way to start than AJ and Dez. Not concerned in the least about Romo's injury, glad everyone else is though.
3rd. Donte Moncrief - possibly a slight stretch here. Had TY Hilton all queued up and ready to go, but once again Ram sniped my pick right in front of me. Not worried about targets, INDY won't have a run game to speak of, so might as well grab him
4th. Cam Newton- considered Lat Murray, Forte and DT, didn't want to fill a bench spot so DT was out quick, and if I'm committed to the no RB plan, than I have to keep the faith and not reach for a RB. Plus, with the lack of RB's, I'll need advantages everywhere else I can get em. Might as well start with the NFL MVP.
5th. Duke Johnson- A guy I was hoping to have as my flex, is now my RB1, not ideal in any way, but I have high hopes for the kid. He and Abdullah would make a decent enough tandem, if only he can make it back to me in 4 picks.
6th. Chris Ivory- well Joe ruined my Abdullah plan, too early for a D, TE can wait, so I reach a little for Ivory. Not expecting a ton of yards, or anything receiving, am expecting 10 TD's. Yeldon is of minimal concern, the lesser tandem back in what will be a very run heavy approach, imho.
7th. Legarrett Blount- some may consider this a reach. I ask those people to see the 2013 Patriots. The last time they ran a 2 tight end featured offense, Blount and Ridley combined for 1500 and 14 TD's. There's no Ridley, and Lewis is on the shelf. Considering my RB situation, I call it a steal.
8th. Denver D/st. Here's where someone can call me out and I have little defense. Yea 8th is to early for a D, I get it. But, in my book, when your options at RB's and WR's all appear very similar, same value you can get next round, might as well pull the trigger. And much like why I took Cam, with the lack of strong RB's, I'm taking advantages anywhere I can find em. A defense that outscored the 2nd place D by 20 points, the 5th place D by 42, the 12th place by 72..that's exactly what I'm looking for. Between this pick, #87, and my next, #106, only one of my targets was taken. .I call that a victory, and a "reach" well worth taking.
9th. Kevin White- unproven, and hasn't excactly set the world on fire in preseason, but easily the highest upside in terms of a combination of raw ability and opportunity of any WR's left.
10th. DeAndre Washington- back to the RB stock pile method. Could've went with any number of lesser committee members, but if he carves a role, it'll grow with time. Raiders offense is going to be passing, not running, that line is built for the former, and they suck at the latter.
11th. Shaun Draughn- let the RB stockpile continue. Carlos Hyde injuries are not only inevitable, they're already starting. It'll be nice having a starting Chip Kelly RB I snagged in the eleventh at some point during the season.
12th. Tyler Eifert- so here I see 3 rounds left, knowing the 14th will be a kicker. Do I grab what would be a hands down top 5 TE when healthy, and use that last bench spot on a 2nd TE until he's healthy, or grab a 2nd QB here, and a "normal " TE in the 13th? Again, looking for advantages any place I can find em. Hey, if some people think L. Bell is worth a 1st or 2nd round pick while missing 3 games, surely Eifert is worth a 12th, right?
13. Virgil Green- Trevor Semien at QB, a guy Kubiak is going to only ask a bare minimum of while he leans on the run game and D. What's the bare minimum in a passing game? Short safe throws to a TE. Virgil may not be exciting, but I honestly would not be surprised to see him lead the Broncos in targets.
14th. Graham Gano- Last year's #2 kicker, on an offense that not only returns everyone, but gets their best WR back to boot? What's to worry about?

Overall I love everything about the team except the RB's. But, playing matchups between Duke, Ivory, and Blount, waiting for Hyde to miss a stretch of games..I can live with that.
Great analysis Treff enjoyed the read

great thing about your strategy as well... I have found that RBs get pounced on in waiver wires, while owners are much more patient with WRs, usually they wait and see if a WR puts up the same big numbers AGAIN before they add them...

Which this is great news for you, as you will likely not have to be in the hunt for the RB and you can afford to take the risk on WR earlier than any of us...

I guess if everyone else is going to...

Picking from the 3 slot.

3 Antonio Brown, Pit WR
Easy pick to make. Still waitin for Treff to cry me that river he promised.

22 Doug Martin, TB RB
Always alternate RB & WR with my first 2 picks. Grabbing a true stud at each position is sound logic. Martin was the best available.

27 Sammy Watkins, Buf WR
Struggled with this pick. Wanted to go RB, but most of what was available were risky and I didn't like them much at all unless I wanted to make a sizable reach. Watkins was BPA.

46 Jordan Reed, Wsh TE
Probably most regrettable pick. Looking back I wish I had reached for a RB because 3 rounds later when my pick was up I saw plenty of solid TE options were available. I'm hoping the hype train on Reed is for real, else I will regret this pick all season.

51 Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB
Newton & Rodgers were plucked in Rd 4 IIRC, so I knew waiting for the next turn of picks meant losing out on the top 4-5 prospects and I didn't care for Wilson as much. Decided to make the reach. I've always been a fan of doubling the WR1 & QB1 from the same team. Makes for a great combo, especially when you consider the TD machine that AB is.

70 Doug Baldwin, Sea WR
Wanted to go RB again, but didn't like what was available over Baldwin. BPA pick again.

75 Danny Woodhead, SD RB
Started to really worry about RBs at this point. But I kept my eyes on a couple down the list and it gave me comfort. However I didn't have my eyes on TKO who was scooping anyone & everyone up at RB. Woodhead is a sneaky pick though. I love his versatility and production, but the question will be whether he's a worthy RB2 or not.

94 DeSean Jackson, Wsh WR
The RB I had my eyes on at this point was Justin Forsett. I thought he would survive the turn and make it to my next pick, but I was wrong. D-Jax was another BPA pick. Decided he would shore up my WR corps and I would have a great group to stream with.

99 Jay Ajayi, Mia RB
Lost out on Forsett, so Ajayi was BPA. Seems like a worthy pick considering Foster's injury history. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed he produces in some way or another.

118 Cardinals D/ST D/ST
I'll probably receive some flack for this pick considering there were 2 or 3 D/ST's available with higher ADP's than Arizona. But I knew I wanted the Cards D over the others and I was ready for a D considering the RB position was damn near depleted.

123 Theo Riddick, Det RB
Again, RB was still a pressing need considering I only had 1 decent option at the position at this point. The more streaming options the better. Riddick is essentially the same as Woodhead. Good 3rd down, pass catching backers. Sort of TD dependent, but hopefully 1 or both produce something worthy of consideration for RB2.

142 Andy Dalton, Cin QB
Had my eyes on Dalton a few rounds ago and knew he would fall. Glad he did because he's a great QB1 option should Ben get injured.

147 Vincent Jackson, TB WR
At this point, I was looking BPA for a flier. Probably wont be in the lineup for long considering I'll be watching waivers like a hawk for a RB to surface. V-Jax was one of the few true fringe WR1/WR2's available. Seemed like a good gamble to me.

166 Chris Boswell, Pit K
Shocked that he was still available with the 3rd to last pick. Thought that SteelersPride would have been all over him, but he went with Vinatieri just a few picks before. Not that many people put kickers on a pedestal unless its Gostkowski, but having a kicker on a high-octane offense is very appealing. The Wizard of Boz fits the profile.

Again, RB is my clear weakness. But the rest of my team is pretty solid, barring injury of course! :thumb:

Not a fan of ur rbs behind Martin, but overall I love your team. I also like the "double up" aspect of qb/WR from same team. Good draft IMO.

Yep... I was caught off-guard by the RB position being so depleted. Didn't realize until it was too late that a few teams were going extremely RB heavy in their draft strategy. I'll have to pray that 1 of my depth options produces respectable RB2 numbers, or an injury vaults them into RB1 territory... I can stream WR's at the flex spot.

Here is mine, from #1:

1: Elliott: Some will disagree, but this was an easy pick for me. Brown is the best player, but there were too many good WRs available later for me to pass on RB here. Cowboys line + weak schedule give Elliott a very high floor and even higher ceiling.
24: Mark Ingram: Was not expecting any decent RBs to fall to pick 24. I don't love Ingram, but this is a value I had to take.
25: Brandin Cooks: very high on Cooks this year.
48: John Brown: Brown has top 10 WR upside. Not worried about the concussion because I have others to plug in here.
49: Maclin: great value for a FLEX
72: DeAngelo Williams: 3 week starter in elite offense, perhaps more if Bell gets hurt. In the division of death, those 3 weeks are pretty important.
73: Kelvin Benjamin: hate him, but the value in the 7th was too good to pass in. This is not far from where he should go, IMO.
96: Coby Fleener: high on Fleenet this year. I couldn't get Brees, so I loaded up on all his top weapons
97: Forsett: best available RB, might make a playable Flex.
120: J. Winston: was hoping for Cousins here, but I will settle for Winston. I think he takes a couple big steps forward.
121: Dorsett: upside for days
144: Eagles: love their week 1 matchup
145: j. Tucker: taking a kicker last round is a mistake. If everybody else is doing it, the. You get a lot of value by reading just 1 round early.
168: A Morris: honestly, this pick was just to mess with Treff. I will probably drop Morris before week 1.

Sure, why not?

From the deuce...

Peterson... maybe you've heard me back him up this off season :)
Charles... I'm always the low man on JC, so pretty shocked to see him fall here... if JC and Shady were gone, Cooper was my fall back.
Hill... like Brees1, I put this pick in pen a long time ago.
Brees... normally I'm last to draft a QB, with my target, Melvin Gordon gone, couldn't pass on my #1 QB.
Langford... actually like Gore more, but I own Gore everywhere... and looks like lots of volume coming his way.
Bernard... oooh! Face takes Baldwin right in front of me! Not a true "cuff", so his stand alone value is worth it, imo.
Fitzgerald... okay, gotta get someone to catch a pass I guess. Won't be top ten again, but TD's will find him.
Crowell... no difference between the WR left and waivers, gimme a "starter" where I'm high on his counterpart...I'm wrong enough.
Crabtree... top 20 again? idk, but nobody stepping up underneath him, so lots of targets available... not scared to stream him though.
Ware... cuffing Charles is a smart play... like this bulldozer.
McKinnon... cuffing necessary when I have seven other RB? probably not, but no sense throwing a dart at WR, imo.
Clay... still might swap him out, maybe not. TE streaming is a possibility.
Vikings... Zimmer is a fine defensive mind.
Hopkins... Kicker

Just because I'm bored...

Week 1 preview between @Ram Tough & I...

QBs
Palmer vs. Roethlisberger

RBs
Miller/Murray vs. Martin/Woodhead

WRs
Nelson/Hilton vs. AB/Watkins

TEs
Barnidge vs. Reed

FLEX
Decker vs. Baldwin

D/STs
Jets vs. Cards

Ks
Gostkowski vs. Boswell

Looks like a great matchup... He has the edge with RBs & I have it with the WRs. Obviously debatable at this point in time. And I have no clue who I'm rollin with at RB2 yet. The rest of the matchups look fairly equal. Hard to tell who will come out on top!

What say you?

I think Alf is a good cuff to have... if I could have nine RB, he would have been 9th.
