Fuzzy picks in KOTF
Perfect example of letting the draft come to me. Did not intend to ignore RBs but early in the draft I drafted best available IMO.
1st three picks: Julio Jones, Mike Evans, Amari Cooper
4th- J Stewart- needed a starting RB
Decided at this point to focus on being good at positions other than RB-
Tom Brady in the 5th and B Bortles in the 7th for Brady's suspension.
R Jennings in 6th my second tier 2 starting RB
8th round- Seahawks DST- see above
Backup, RBs- C Simms - 9th, J Starks - 12th, K Dixon- 13th
Julius Thomas TE in the 10th
14th round-M Crosby, kicker

I am OK considering the competition.

Bandit's picks

Much like everybody else not named TKO, my running back depth is pitiful, but I really like my starting team.

1st round (8th) - Deandre Hopkins, thrilled he was still there.

2nd round (17th) - Davonta Freeman, best RB available.

3rd round (32nd) - C.J. Anderson, really don't like him, but he was the best RB available.

4th round (41st) - Aaron Rodgers, I was actually going to draft Matt Forte here, but he had the same bye as both Freeman and Anderson so I went with quarterback.

5th round (56th) - Greg Olsen, everybody that's ever drafted with me knows I love this guy and I'm thrilled that I got him.

6th round (65th) - Julian Edelman, love this pick in the 6th round

7th round (80th) - Emmanuel Sanders, don't love him this year, but with the 80th pick I'm okay with it.

8th round (89th) - Delanie Walker, this was simply a case of the best player available regardless of position. I really needed another running back, but by here, every running back would have been a huge reach value wise, so I couldn't pass on the 4th best tight end. I can play him at the flex or use him as trade bait.

9th round (104th) - Tevin Coleman, was really happy he lasted this long with the way backup running backs were flying off the board. At least now I know that I have the Falcons RB situation covered.

10th round (113th) - Allen Hurns, once again, should have gone running back, but Hurns was much better value than whatever the 58th running back's value is (or whatever goofy shit it was).

11th round (128th) - Panthers D/ST, was hoping that James White fell this far but my father screwed me over there.

12th round (137th) - Darren Sproles, hey it was a running back with a pulse that will see playing time. I actually was debating between him and James Starks and then realized that I was having a debate between two guys that probably won't be on my roster in 4 weeks anyway.

13th round (152nd) - Matthew Stafford, I probably should have went with a wide receiver or running back here, but by this time the only running backs left were Ledanian Tomlinson and Shaun Alexander and all the receivers left were going to be shots in the dark, so I'm fine with Stafford as my backup. Rodgers's bye is week 4 and the Lions play the Bears, so after week 4 I can just dump Stafford and pick up somebody on waivers. Probably Darren Sproles who I will have dropped the week before. LOL

14th round (161st) - a kicker

Overall I really like my starting lineup and since I went quarterback/tight end in the 4th and 5th round, it really hurt my depth at running back and wide receiver, but I'm thrilled that I have Rodgers and Olsen, so you take the good with the bad. I might be able to deal Delanie Walker at some point or hey, he might just play in my flex all year and I'll play two tight ends.

Well if Bandit will, I might as well too.

Rd1. AJ Green- I've long been a detractor for AJ, too much of a roller coaster for me. 25 points one week, 5 points the next 4. But after Lamar went at #9, there were no "stud" RB's, and he was the last of the "elite" WR's. This also changed my entire approach for the whole draft. Went in hoping for 2 of Miller, Charles, Shady, Ingram at 10 and 15..plan in the trash
2nd. Dez Bryant - if your going zero RB's, not much of a better way to start than AJ and Dez. Not concerned in the least about Romo's injury, glad everyone else is though.
3rd. Donte Moncrief - possibly a slight stretch here. Had TY Hilton all queued up and ready to go, but once again Ram sniped my pick right in front of me. Not worried about targets, INDY won't have a run game to speak of, so might as well grab him
4th. Cam Newton- considered Lat Murray, Forte and DT, didn't want to fill a bench spot so DT was out quick, and if I'm committed to the no RB plan, than I have to keep the faith and not reach for a RB. Plus, with the lack of RB's, I'll need advantages everywhere else I can get em. Might as well start with the NFL MVP.
5th. Duke Johnson- A guy I was hoping to have as my flex, is now my RB1, not ideal in any way, but I have high hopes for the kid. He and Abdullah would make a decent enough tandem, if only he can make it back to me in 4 picks.
6th. Chris Ivory- well Joe ruined my Abdullah plan, too early for a D, TE can wait, so I reach a little for Ivory. Not expecting a ton of yards, or anything receiving, am expecting 10 TD's. Yeldon is of minimal concern, the lesser tandem back in what will be a very run heavy approach, imho.
7th. Legarrett Blount- some may consider this a reach. I ask those people to see the 2013 Patriots. The last time they ran a 2 tight end featured offense, Blount and Ridley combined for 1500 and 14 TD's. There's no Ridley, and Lewis is on the shelf. Considering my RB situation, I call it a steal.
8th. Denver D/st. Here's where someone can call me out and I have little defense. Yea 8th is to early for a D, I get it. But, in my book, when your options at RB's and WR's all appear very similar, same value you can get next round, might as well pull the trigger. And much like why I took Cam, with the lack of strong RB's, I'm taking advantages anywhere I can find em. A defense that outscored the 2nd place D by 20 points, the 5th place D by 42, the 12th place by 72..that's exactly what I'm looking for. Between this pick, #87, and my next, #106, only one of my targets was taken. .I call that a victory, and a "reach" well worth taking.
9th. Kevin White- unproven, and hasn't excactly set the world on fire in preseason, but easily the highest upside in terms of a combination of raw ability and opportunity of any WR's left.
10th. DeAndre Washington- back to the RB stock pile method. Could've went with any number of lesser committee members, but if he carves a role, it'll grow with time. Raiders offense is going to be passing, not running, that line is built for the former, and they suck at the latter.
11th. Shaun Draughn- let the RB stockpile continue. Carlos Hyde injuries are not only inevitable, they're already starting. It'll be nice having a starting Chip Kelly RB I snagged in the eleventh at some point during the season.
12th. Tyler Eifert- so here I see 3 rounds left, knowing the 14th will be a kicker. Do I grab what would be a hands down top 5 TE when healthy, and use that last bench spot on a 2nd TE until he's healthy, or grab a 2nd QB here, and a "normal " TE in the 13th? Again, looking for advantages any place I can find em. Hey, if some people think L. Bell is worth a 1st or 2nd round pick while missing 3 games, surely Eifert is worth a 12th, right?
13. Virgil Green- Trevor Semien at QB, a guy Kubiak is going to only ask a bare minimum of while he leans on the run game and D. What's the bare minimum in a passing game? Short safe throws to a TE. Virgil may not be exciting, but I honestly would not be surprised to see him lead the Broncos in targets.
14th. Graham Gano- Last year's #2 kicker, on an offense that not only returns everyone, but gets their best WR back to boot? What's to worry about?

Overall I love everything about the team except the RB's. But, playing matchups between Duke, Ivory, and Blount, waiting for Hyde to miss a stretch of games..I can live with that.

Used a simple strategy this yr - - Following Tlance lead, get best available. When 2 RBs went first that sort of dictated my first pick, although had A. Brown been there he would have been my #1. As it turned out, very happy I did grab Gurley with the RB hogs (one in particular) in this league.
All in all pretty happy, with the way it came together. Bye week 11 will be an issue, but heck that's so far away that my whole team may be different by then. Although pleased to get Wilson, really had not intended to get a QB early - but there was a mini run when it got to me in the 5th.
Gambled a bit at 7-8 rd. Kelce was clearly the top of my list but went with Tate based on my WR bye week 11 issue - luckily he came back to me in the 8th.

4 Todd Gurley, LA RB
21 Brandon Marshall, NYJ WR
28 Keenan Allen, SD WR
45 Matt Forte, NYJ RB
52 Russell Wilson, Sea QB
69 Ryan Mathews, Phi RB
76 Golden Tate, Det WR
93 Travis Kelce, KC TE
100 Bilal Powell, NYJ RB
117 Willie Snead, NO WR
124 James White, NE RB
141 Derek Carr, Oak QB
148 Patriots D/ST D/ST
165 Blair Walsh, Min K

BTW - would have joined you guys last night on here but the wife was suffering from computer withdrawals and I still cannot get to the hoop from my laptop.

Average Joe's Windy City Sloths

QB: Rivers & Cousins
RB: Bell, Gordon, Abdullah, Yeldon
WR: Robinson, Cobb, Landry, Diggs, Smith Sr.
TE: Gates ; D/ST: Texans ; K: Hauschka

11 Allen Robinson, Jax WR - Since I picked in the 11th spot, ARob was a guy I was hoping would slide to me. Was holding out hope for Lamar Miller but Ram crushed that 2 spots earlier.

14 Le'Veon Bell, Pit RB - Don't like taking a guy suspended 3 games this early, but I know RB go fast in this league (and in the province of Nova Scotia). But no other RB averages more yards per game (and only 2 WR average more).

35 Randall Cobb, GB WR - After seeing Keenan, Cooper and Hilton go, I felt Cobb was the most underrated WR at this point. (Or maybe I'm over-valuing him?) Hopefully his 1200 yards in 2014 wasn't a fluke.

38 Melvin Gordon, SD RB - Starting RB with little competition in a decent Whisenhunt offense. Works for me.

59 Jarvis Landry, Mia WR - Not in love with the pick but I can't help but see the Fins as a pass-heavy team.

62 Ameer Abdullah, Det RB - Do you see a trend here? WR/RB/WR/RB/WR/RB... He's another starter plus I may get to use OC Jim Bob Cooter in sentences! Nice to see I ruined Treff's plans too.

83 Philip Rivers, SD QB - The man crush returns.

86 T.J. Yeldon, Jax RB - Still sticking to my guns that he ends up as the better back in Jacksonville. And at this point (8th round) there's little risk involved. This might be where I took Freeman last year? Hmmm.

107 Stefon Diggs, Min WR - Just another guy I have a hunch about.

110 Kirk Cousins, Wsh QB - Lefty really talked me into Captain Kirk during the D2 draft. The more I look at his numbers the more I like him.

131 Antonio Gates, SD TE - He may be old, but he still gets the job done.
134 Texans D/ST D/ST - Whatever.
155 Steven Hauschka, Sea K - Ditto.
158 Steve Smith Sr., Bal WR - Hope he goes out with a bang in his final season.

Wasn't a fan of my draft at all... I accidentally Drafted Arian Foster, but still got my target with my next pick... I did not like Alshon with my 2nd rounder, but he was the top of my list at that time...

My team

QB- Andrew Luck
RB- Carlos Hyde, Arian Foster, Matt Jones, Jordan Howard, Wendell Smallwood, Buck Allen
WR- Odell Beckham, Alshon Jeffery, Devontae Parker, Torrey Smith
TE- Dwayne Allen
D- Chiefs
K- McManus

I do love my bench and its upside... But wish I did better with my starters...

Never was a a fan of a 5th round bench player... BUT with some teams really needing for a WR I think you can easily get better than 5th round value for any of your bench RBs...

Very interesting seeing a 0-WR strategy in these modern fantasy times... Hope it works out for you!!! Well really I don't since I am one of your opponents...

I forgot to mention what a pleasure it is to participate in this league. Each year it makes my other drafts seem so easy. I did a number of fantasypro mocks, just to get a feel for value and pretty much all of them were nowhere close to the savvy minds here. This is by far the one draft that realllly makes you thing. ..... 'stretches' here are not real stretches - for the most part they only address team needs. Anyway, you guys are the best !!!

300 points between Fitz and Crabby last year... maybe they'll repeat, maybe not.

As for trades, I am now searching... looking for a Fitz/Crowell, Fitz/Langford for a WR2.... or even Gio/Fitz if that floats anyone's boat. Or a straight up deal with an RB for WR. JC=WR1, Langford, Gio, Crowell for a flex WR?

Or I'll hold tight and stream if Crabby turns to crappy.

This was my plan going in... unless a WR fell to where I liked the value... that didn't happen. Almost a couple times... but not quite.
