Sad to see the Rams leave St Louis. I usually hate all L.A teams but will have to swallow my pride and follow them to the city of Angels.

I am excited about the market they will have in L.A. Players will now view the Rams as a great destination.

Why can't St. Louis keep an NFL franchise? They remind me of Atlanta of the NHL who lost 2 franchises. The Gateway City has also lost 2 franchises. But while hockey usually needs a core group of fans to keep a city afloat, this is the NFL we're talking about. The NFL has fans everywhere.

Is it political? Is it the economy? Is it the size of the market?

Its the market and economy... it didn't help that there were race riots during the time the Rams had brought up they were interested in relocating. Stan must have been happy to see St.Louis fall apart to make his departure much easier.

Bottom Line: Who wants to play and live in St. Louis?

That's how I felt when they left LA..............big thanks to SL as that is where we got our first (and only) SB win.

Well, not me but I, personally, wouldn't want to be in LA either. ..... too many philosophical differences and excessive taxes for my blood.

Let's stop with the myths regarding the STL economy/market being too small. I've provided the FACTUAL data that proves otherwise.

Myth 1, TOO SMALL MARKET:

We are in dire straights as a country if the 19th largest metro-area in our nation can't support an NFL franchise, since there are more than 19 NFL franchises already.

Business Insider had an article about St Louis being home to 3 of the top 25 wealthiest suburbs in the country as well. Ballwin, MO - 9th safest city in the entire country......doesn't sound like the picture of STL that you know from the news, eh?

The 25 Wealthiest Suburbs In America

Cardinal fans pay some of the highest beer prices in MLB, and probably have one of the stadiums closest to a major brewery out of any team in the league. People here pay for sports, but they just expect the owners of said sports to be equally invested in winning, as they are at turning a profit off our backs.
(don't get me started about the "Best Fans In Baseball" shit - I hate them just as much as you, and I'm a cardinal fan)

Myth 2, TOO DANGEROUS OF A CITY:

Crime stats you see usually only include St. Louis City and its population of 320,000.
The metro area is home to 2.8 million people, slightly up since the last census, which means that people are moving to STL area, not away from it.

We are all stat nerds for the most part, or we wouldn't be here talking fantasy football year round.
I think we'd all agree that 11% of the population is hardly a good sample size. Stats can be misleading, just depends on the motive of the person producing the stat.

This part of the country isn't the best place to live, but it is so far from the worst, and so far from the image that the mainstream media puts out there regarding the city.

Apparently only NFL players don't want to.
Baseball and Hockey guys LOVE living here.
Pujols is still a major participant in his charity foundation thing here.

Gretzky keeps a home in STL area. Let that soak in.
Wayne freaking Gretzky keeps a house in STL area, and has family that lives here.
(recently attended his niece's school dance here)

But yea, this whole place is a dump......stay away everyone, don't move here, lol.

Same as I feel about central Florida - - but I'm fighting a losing battle.

Somehow I should be insulted?

That's awesome. There is pride involved. Walter Payton lived not too far from me even after he retired. A lot of ex-Bears still live in the Chicagoland area. Heard an interview with Brian Campbell (he played for the Florida Panthers but was part of the 2010 Blackhawks Cup team), he still lives here.

Those kind of stories give you some civic pride. It also endears you to that athlete, the guy that came from somewhere else, and wants to call your city home. They embrace the city completely. We love to cheer for those guys. Sadly you don't hear that as often anymore.

What really irks me is when you get rookies like Eli Manning making stipulations about which city he wants to play for (or does not want to play for). I know Elway did the same thing (took me years to get over it - maybe not). Same for Brian Bosworth. And Eric Lindros in the NHL.
Bottom Line: Who wants to play and live in St. Louis?
What I don't get is, we're still talking about an NFL city. Continuing my middle point from above, to any football player trying to break into the league, should it matter if you get drafted by the Rams or Patriots? Fans will love you. And if you embrace the city, fans will honor you.

Naw, I take you for a realist Joe. Nothing wrong with being prideful about where your from but realizing the issues of that area doesn't mean you can't love it all the same.
Still love my hometown was always quite, peaceful, a place where everyone knew everyone, but 20 years after moving away, it currently has the highest crime rate per capita in Nebraska. I still love it, am still proud of being from there, but glad I don't live there any longer

the sign of poor management, you always set up for the stretch run:L
IIRC I had great depth but went through 2-3 weeks in a row of multiple injuries. Literally wiped out my big point makers & backups. I limped into the playoffs.
