He only 26, so could provide a long term at Safety, but will likely not cost half of the reported $9 million a season Byrd wants. I know Byrd has the name factor, but Mitchell had 4 picks and four sacks last year to go along with 67 tackles and two forced fumbles. Just saying, lets bring in good young FA at a reasonable price, and if we must pend a little more, pay our own guys for once.

Definitely a cheaper option. What has he done before this last year?

How about bethea? He had a very good year and won't cost as much as Ward, either. He is 29, so that's a consideration, but there is no reason that he can't give us 3-4 good years.

Clemons is another one that is a good S that will not get the huge dollars. He is also only 27 so he has quite a few good years left.

I am a huge Jairus Byrd fan, but if he wants $9 per year, pass!!! The are some pretty good names that are out there, who will cost half that. The bottom line is that we need to get better at that position.

Mike Mitchell had a good season, but I'm not totally sold on him. I am an Antoine Bethea fan. He can do it all. He's 29, sure, but he plays like he's a lot younger. It seems like he's played more than eight years for some reason. Lol I think he'll probably be worth between $5-6 million per season. We'll see.
