Just admit Tig fans, the Tigs offense is why Maxipad is undefeated. He idn't even in the top 10 in ERA. If he played on the M's and had Felix's run support he would be an average to above average pitcher with 7 or 8 wins. Overrated!

Max's 3.10 ERA may not be Top 10, but his 0.897 WHIP sure is. He's also 1st in the league in fewest hits per 9 IP (6.0). And he's got 131 strikeouts in 110.1 innings. Hard to call those numbers "overrated".

If you are just pitching to close out a game that you are up by three you don't care about a HR. Max gets a lead and challenges guys thats why his era is higher than a 12-0 pitcher.

The guy has been money this year. The fact you need to bring Felix up and how many wins does he have? is great guy to reference with Max.

ERA is just one measure of a pitcher's effectiveness. Sometimes you have to look at the number of unearned runs, too, as a high number shows a pitcher that cannot pitch over a mistake. Jeff Weaver comes to mind. Seemed to frequntly have an ERA in the low-mid 3's, but also a lot of unearned runs. Thus, he was no better than a .500 pitcher.

I have always liked WhIP as the best stat to judge a pitcher.

Max starts the All Star game...or at least should.

If only JV can get it back on track.
