Long season. Watch and see. Miami was trying to make Suh fit their D instead of letting Suh dictate the D. All that changed now.
The sad thing is -- you may actually believe this. For 19 million dollars -- you shouldn't have to custom fit a defense to ANY player. They should be productive, no matter what defense is being run. It is exactly why a DT isn't worth that type of money.
Miami is built to get after the QB. They aren't built to stop the run and they aren't one or two players from being a team built to stop the run. That is why I made the wager with you. Detroit was great last year, not solely because of Suh -- they were great because they had great DE's against the run. A great LB against the run and a very good safety against the run. It took Detroit almost 5 years to compile the players to be an elite rush defense.
Miami isn't going to fire a coach and turn into a great rush defense. I will say -- it is possible they get after the QB much more, though I think you will see teams do exactly what they did and still do against Detroit -- quick throws and nullify dealing with Miami's greatest strength.
