Thoughts on this?

I don't like it. Better options available and he seemed like a cancer last year

Actually, I think it's pretty good - Now we can refer to the Blues goaltending contingent as Jake and the Fat Man plus Elliott.

Should have went Tim Thom as who was productive in Florida. Breezy is out there too. Harding isn't awful (1y left?)

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (Daddy) comes to mind also.

That seems like an opinion with no fact behind it. Marty, Cory, DeBoer and everyone covering the team all said he handled a tough situation with class. Seems like the only cancer is haters gotta hate.

Haters? Constantly speaking out against coachea and management about his playing time lol. What do you think they are going to say about Marty in NJ? Haters gonna hate doe I guess.

Marty shouldn't be in the league at this point.

I have nothing but respect for Marty
Just don't think he's good anymore ... Better goalies available.
People were saying the same thing a few years back when he led the team to the finals. Could have very easily won another cup aside from some debatable calls and solid goals

I agree I don't like the idea of seeing him in another uniform. Very few players stay with one team anymore the last great that even comes to mind to me right now is Sakic

Marty Brodeur is a legend & 1st ballot Hall of Famer. He's also 63rd in save % over the last 3 seasons (.901), just ahead of Joey MacDonald.

as a band-aid for 3 weeks until elliot is back?
meh, why not.

That still bugs me - I don't know what bothered me more, the fact that Rice asked for #80 or the fact that the Seahawks took Largent's retired number and gave it to Rice.

Rice is an arrogant ass...so, I'd be more pissed with the team in that instance. Retired is retired.

Marty shouldn't be in the league at this point.

Marty said he wanted to play more and said he knew Cory wanted to play more too. He and Cory both said the coaching staff handled it as well as possible...how is that cancer.

And as far as what they are saying in NJ his former teammates are excited for him and all the fans I've spoken with are happy or at least OK with it.

So I guess you might want to stop tossing out these ill informed opinions, unless you enjoy displaying your ignorance.

Forgot about that. Didn't Largent become a congressman after his playing days, you'd think he's get a law passed banning such a thing.

And yeah it was a dick move by Rice.

Right or wrong, Marty won't consider retiring as long as there's a chance he can reach 700 regular season wins. He's 12 away.
