OU seems to be pulling away from Marquise Overton according to the Jenks H.S. Defensive tackle.
According to conversations with SoonerScoop's Josh McCuistion:
"It's just my low ACT score, I've taken it again but there are so many different things," Overton said. "I can raise it up to a 17, or I can make straight As this semester. I made all As last semester and it bumped up my (needed) ACT by a point.
"The coaches, they told me they didn't want to lose a scholarship if I wasn't able to qualify. They just said that they don't think I'm going to make it, if I would have jumped up a few more points on my ACT."
"I kind of see where they are coming from but at the same time, I think I can do it and pull it out."
So where does that leave things between Oklahoma and Overton?
"Well, I can either go JUCO and go to OU or I can go to a different school. I'm looking at both options," he said. "I haven't really decommitted or anything. I don't know how to say it really, it's just like talking to other coaches, I have to go back and talk to the people that I used to talk to and get back with the people that were fixing to offer me.
" I feel like I'm better than JUCO, I could get past this hump with the grades, I kind of don't really want to go JUCO, which is probably what (Oklahoma) wants me to do."
"I just have to find the right spot, it just happened, so it hit me pretty fast. It's so unexpected."
An Iowa State recruiter stopped by Jenks on Thursday to see Trojans wide receiver Carson Epps and spoke briefly with Overton. He also has spoken with Oklahoma State and is reaching out to several other programs.
Thanks Boren.
