Series Thread: Mariners @ Rangers April 20-22

Man...Dee G is rapidly becoming my fav mariner. His interview post game just puts a smile on my face. He's sharp and he's funny. No wonder he has such an impact in the club house. U just gotta like that guy.

Good win - we'll take it. felix looked solid for a strong 5 innings. Servais needs to learn from this and keep him on a short leash in future games / similar situations.

Our relievers: Scrabble and Vincent needed to pound the strike zone better... they both fell behind multiple hitters 2-1 3-1 etc ... Nicasio just doesn't look like the caliber of set up man we paid for. His stuff is OK, but its far far dominant / over powering. But a win is a win ... and we'll take it

Felix was really good again. That's 4 of 5 starts where he's been solid to fantastic. The SF game is still hurting his ERA, but he hasn't given up more than 3 runs in any other start.

It was a bit frustrating for the offense most of the night, but they figured it out when they needed to. Big Maple out there tonight to lock up a series win, then I guess we'll see tomorrow who goes to make room for Ramirez.

Would be nice to see a little more early offense today, but Colon is inexplicably off to maybe the best start of his career. Looking forward to seeing what he's doing to be so effective and whether we can solve him.

Should be an interesting one later today. Colon was lights out against the Stros putting down the 1st 21 he faced. Yikes!! The Pax man doesn't have the best record against the Rangers ( 0-2 in 4 games with a ERA 6.16) . Beltre has a .563 AVG with Paxton. On our side against Colon, Dee is .375, Cano is .286, Segura is .273 and Cruz is .200. Who knows how Colon will be today. If he's anything like he was Sunday with Houston, I think we're in VERY deep dog poo even if the Pax man is at the top of his game. Guess we'll get the verdict later on today. So, grab a half rack of , have some or a bowl of and keep an eye on whether that dog poo hits the fan or not this afternoon/evening.

Didn't want to start a thread for this info but for those who enjoy listening to Dave Sims his initial surgery was postponed and this is his tweet regarding his status:

"Again, thanks so much the outpouring of concern. My Achilles repair surgery was postponed until this coming Thursday due to the presence of DVTs (just to make this even more of an adventure). Unfortunately it will be a relatively long haul - fairly standard for this rehab. I miss being in the booth sharing the minute-to-minute of Mariners baseball with you. I look forward to a healthy return as soon as I’m able!"

Sounds like he'll be out for a while recouping.

After the rain delay the game starts at 6:30 and Dee gets a hit right away, but gets thrown out @ 2nd trying to steal a base. Hope the offense can deal with Colon and the Pax man is on his game tonight.

Again, making plays that should be made will cost an average team every time. 1-0 because of Segura and his shaky hands and then a 6' 250 lb 1B isn't getting a ball that bounced over his head. Volgelbach is a platoon DH...nothing more.

Your ACE can't be a 5+ inning pitcher. Bedard needs to attack more and have quicker innings. And yes, the ump does suck but it seems in this game to be both ways.

A messed up ump + a struggling pitcher + a shitty defense + a struggling offense = a losing game. If we don't get a pitcher in there that doesn't give up walks or doubles and if we get our offense going and quit make stupid fielding blunders we could win this game. This match up shows just how the M's are going to have another ho hum season. We should be sweeping this divisional last place team instead of struggling just to keep our head above water.

Agreed totally. At this point we don't really have a starter that gives us any positive consistency. Can't burn out the so so pen every game because the starter can't get past 4 or 5 innings. We'll always be trying to climb out of a hole at this rate.

Runners at 1st and 2nd with zero outs so we should be able to plate at least one??
