The White Sox are dumb if they think Vaughn is a sweetener. Not sure why the M’s don’t just trade Castillo for Hoerner straight up.

From another source:

David Kaplan confirms the Cubs’ interest in trading for a “high-impact” starter, name-checking the White Sox and Mariners, like everyone else. But unlike everyone else, Kaplan dropped a different Mariners starter of interest:
Well crap, should’ve read more of the thread before commenting.

Walker is going to get 20-30mil per. I wish 15mil to get him here but essentially he's going to want that payday. I'd still take him at 25 to 30mil per for 3yrs. I think he's a tad of a late bloomer that still has a good 5yrs of baseball.
Walker is a guy where that AAV sounds good but I really wish the Mariners would front load it. They can handle another $50 million for 2025’s payroll. Thats my big issue with the Mariners ownership (obviously payroll) but they are risk adverse. The simple fix to that is front load the contract.

Or the M’s could hop on the deferred money train.

I was debating this myself. Seems like Castillo is worth more, but at same time it cures a need especially if they can get Sasaki. A long shot, but they are trying for it per Jude.

I have had a hunch..the whole time.
That mariners will.
Belinger..
And send him to phili..
For bohm...

But I could be wrong in that..3b.
Still.sticking out ..

Vaughn..is a better fit for mariners.
And raley..

It.still.trades..locklear..in that case.

I'm out to play chess.forfunagain.

Just a hunch but I'd take that chance and bring him in.
Hou are probably closer to it than I am. I always think cheaper. But ya, I would be real happy with him.

Front loading is a good idea if we get him on a 4yr contract. If for whatever reason year 3 or 4 we're out of playoff contention early and he's putting up solid numbers, that becomes a very tradable contract to get top prospects in return.
