Will he ever dominate or just become the next Bedard (Mariners version)?

Paxton hasn't been consistent enough or healthy enough for me to think he can dominate for an entire season. As we all know when he is at his best he is really good and has great stuff. I think he could have a couple of A+ seasons but for the most part I see C or B seasons from him unless his health improves. I believe a major factor contributing to inconsistency is not being able to stay on the mound because of injury.

That's an interesting idea that I hadn't given much thought to. He should have a good amount of value for a class A player, more than most class A players. He might be a top 100 prospect going into next season.

I just don't know if he fits Dipoto's 'athletic OF' type. I would think he would have value as a young guy excelling. I just hope Dipoto targets non-tendered free agents so we keep our pick.

He definitely doesn't fit a Dipoto type player. He is currently a pretty one dimensional player offensively that doesn't offer much defensively. Just looking at his numbers he appears to be a typical Jack Z type guy, high K rates low obp. and lots of power. He is super athletic just a different kind of athletic, he is like a tank and Dipoto seems to prefer more of a rally car. Personally I think he has the ability to improve all aspects of his game. I expect him to be an avg. defender in a corner outfield spot. High power guy offensively with his weakness being approach. I think as he matures as a player his K numbers should go down and his avg./obp. should go up. He sure is a fun player to watch though.

Interesting article... It really shows the type of player Jack Z was after and the contrasting view Dipoto has. I would love to see this article re-written in a few years after Dipoto has a few drafts and seasons to get his guys in the system.
