Oh Caroline
Seen it all changin', watch it change some more
Seen hard times standin' right outside your door
Tell me gal, what's on your mind
Oh Caroline

*We were the gas house gang I'll be Ozzie Smith, you be Sara, my wife*We were the Cardinals' biggest fans
Turnin' flips like Ozzy Smith all through the night
Till we got traded away
To the red clay southern league up on the Georgia line

You'd be the pitcher and the catcher too
I'm the homerun king for his muscles grew
Gonna knock the cover off this time

Oh Caroline
Heartbroken hard times, they never got us down

Laughable for who, Philly? Middlebrooks can't throw a tennis ball to his dog without pulling him off the porch.

"I don't think Middlebrooks has enough value to be the centerpiece"

Clearly I was saying it was too much for boston to give up, proven when I immediately followed it up with an example of a MUCH better package that might be enough to lure the phils...

No idea what you and Down are discussing this morning Cowboy, but one thing's for certain... Pete's chair is nicer than the piece of shit I'm sitting in right now. Now happy with this thing at all.

Years of back problems ahead of you my friend...

Today's chair is made from the silk of Indonesian worms that spend their life suspended in Jell-O so that they don't build and muscle tone and keep the fibers soft.

I AM RICH!!

I want you to say.

"I was completely wrong about the conversation you were having with people other then myself. My mistake."

If Boston wants to trade for a starter, with that package?

Matt Garza is a more realistic possibility.

Cliff Lee for that? :laugh3:

My mistake, Down. I simply saw MIDDLEBROOKS FOR LEE and started laughing.

I appologize.

Let's not pretend for a second you've heard of a single name there other than Middlebrooks...

How many teams are capable of taking the almost $100m Lee is owed completely from the Phils?

It's more than Boston got back in their deal with the Dodgers last year....

Gives the Phils tons of salary relief, and immediate 3rd base option under controll for 4+ more seasons, and 3 solid to excellent prospects...

Not sure they could do much better...and I wouldn't offer half that for Matt Garza...

Okay, conversation changer....

Talk on the radio right now is all Cliff Lee trade rumors....and what it might take to get him...

The talk is centered around a package of Middlebrooks and Dubrount...peronally? I think that's laughable right now to even consider.

I think Middlebrooks is an interesting possibility...but as of today he doesn't have the value to be the centerpiece....and it would leave them thin at 3rd until Cechhini is ready (probably late 2014 MLB debut)...

Middlebrooks, Ranaudo, Brandon Workman and Michael Almanzar is what I just came up with...

Gives them an MLB ready bat, a top pitching prospect that might be ready for a callup this fall, a 2nd decent back end of the rotation prospect and a corner IF'er with plus power

Thoughts? Lee is owed a SHIT ton of money, which is why I don't think the Phillies could get a package of Boston's elite prospects like Webster, Bogaerts or Bradley...but the one I mentioned above? Would be a damn good move for the phillies IMO...

Problem is. I Don't see the Phillies having the motivation to move him unless they were getting a top Prospect..

August 2012...when they dumped similar albatross's....

Wait!!
Was it a salary dump or getting rid of AWFUL players and contracts dump...they are not the same thing.

If A-Gon was what they thought and so were Beckett and Crawford - and they were leading the division, would they have dumped salary?

no.

Please don't tell me there is someone that disputes this.

Cliff Lee? how old is he?

no thank you, not for that money

2013 is pure gravy, you dont give up prospects for that guy unless you are a title contender this year

and giving up on middlebrooks already? ummmmmmmm, no

I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!

Nobody saw this coming yesterday when he was "day to day"

Blue Jays placed 3B Brett Lawrie on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 28, with a left ankle sprain.

Lawrie sprained his ankle surgery Monday's game and will now get some extended rest. It's just the latest turn in a disappointing season for the 23-year-old, who is batting just .209/.268/.374 in 37 games. Mark DeRosa should see increased playing time during his absence.

How long till day to day Morrow gets put on the DL?
