About right and what I would pay
I would have to seriously think about that amount for this player in context with other free agent needs and who's available in the draft that's similar.

He’s not going to sign for that. He’s going to demand $30m+. And if he is a true #1, he will get it.

I agree!!
That lesser cost window is now closed and the bidding war soon commencing.

Here's a refresher for those who haven't been giving this much attention.

Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals wanted a contract similar to the one signed by Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.
  • Contract details
    Pittman signed a three-year, $70 million extension.

  • Negotiations
The Bengals' initial offer to Higgins was well below $20 million per year, which led to talks faltering

  • Franchise tag
Higgins is slated to play under the franchise tag, which would pay him $21.816 million.
  • A second franchise tag would cost the Bengals around $26.2 million on a one-year rental. So, that 26.2 million becomes the starting point in a bidding war for the soon to be 26 year old. (January 18, 1999)
In a bidding war he's more likely to get closer to 30M per than 28M because of the market.

I firmly believe a QB can make most any WR productive. Peyton made something called Austin Coillie a viable fanstasy football starter. But with that said I can't even imagine how our offense would stall should Terry go down. They absolutly need another impact WR and I expect them to go hunting this offseason.

The QB/WR thing works both ways, for example Josh Allen was widely seen as an average QB until the Bill traded for Diggs. History is full of similiar examples.

Btw; I've been saying the same thing about Washington and TM for six years. They need another WR... hopefully, a WR1 type.

Josh Allen improved dramatically, it was not all the acquisition of Diggs he was flat out a much better QB than early in his career. There are a lot more examples of receivers being much more productive when they got a great QB than the other way around. Daniel Jones has a stud at WR but he still needs to deliver the ball. Wes Welker's numbers in NE blow away his numbers in other stops, had he spent those years in Cleveland nobody would even know his name.

Higgins will feel this need, I would not be opposed to this signing. But with the corners now in much better shape they could very well find that guy in this next draft.

does anyone think paying 30 mil for him when you have 125 mil in space before the cap raise and perhaps a cut or 2 is out of line ? we have 7 picks , and more then enough cap space to resign key players

30 mil for Higgins may not sound sweet to the ears, but he's a WR type we desperately need. Although its just speculation, we likely don't lose to Baltimore or Pittsburg with both Higgins and Lattimore on the roster. So going into next year you'd have to assume, we would win those type of games adding 2 above average/elite players of need

They don't lose to Philly either with those two on board.

I would have to really think about paying that price! TH is a really good player and even adding him to the roster doesn't mean drafting another high end receiver isn't necessary. TM is at contract end in 2025 and he probably wants a renew prior to that time. He's a 30 year old prior to the 2025 season (BD is September 15) and tough decisions will have to be made about his future here, what that looks like and the cost.

This is part of the problem with not maxing out in the first year of the rookie QB. They are now one year into JDs contract which means the window is two years minimum and three years maximum before they have to pay those exorbitant, cap eating, QB prices.

Unless you get a QB like Brady who realized winning makes you more money than your contract.

Let's hope so, or better yet hope that JD gets with a supermodel who makes far more than he does, you know, like Brady.

Btw; those "lesser" contracts came later in his career.

Tom Brady's first NFL contract was a three-year, $866,500 deal with the New England Patriots. The contract included a signing bonus of $38,500 and an average annual salary of $288,833. Brady was a sixth-round pick in the 7th round

Brady's salary increased to seven figures in 2002 after leading the Patriots to their first Super Bowl win. He went on to sign eight more contracts with the Patriots, often restructuring his deals to take less money and help the team. Brady's career earnings from his 20 seasons in New England were $235,166,804.

A 10-1 squad with the only loss to the Bucs then with Higgins n Lattimore eh.

Impressive.

My statements reflect 9-2. But.....with how bad Philly started maybe we could've been 10-1.
I'm looking forward to this Cowboys game. The skins gotta be upset
