Meh. The curse is nothing but hype. A player could get a case of hemorrhoids and the curse gets blamed.

There is no curse. Megatron broke the receiving yards record when he was on the cover 2 years ago. I think it would be awesome to have Sherman on there. Not every day you see a defensive player on there.

Speaking for myself, I don't believe in curses, especially one about a frigging game. Mostly I think it would be great if Sherman made the cover because of all those who hate him and the Seahawks, but just loooove playing Madden so they buy it any way and then every time they want to play they have to look at him.

EA sports angered the football gods... I wish that sell-out of a company would just stop using players on there cover... Let them go sell there video game stocks in another country.. EA sports makes me sick, and the sad part is... they used to be my favorite by far back in the day... Once they went public they stopped caring about quality or customers... It's all about answering to stockholders now... Madden is such a bad game words fall short... The only reason Madden hasn't had the same fate as NBA live is the dam exclusive license BS ... I don't want one Seahawk representing that crappy product...

Kind of magical. I look forward to Sherman to blowing up this so call curse. Also I chuckle over all the Shermans haters that love this game and end up buying it any how and then having to see him every time they want to play the game.

I don't think they're ever going back to putting Madden himself on the cover now that they've been putting players on it for so long, unless the players association or the league asks them to stop. I personally think that players are getting hurt because players get hurt playing football and that their being on the cover of a video game (or a magazine, back when the SI cover "jinx" was a thing) before getting hurt in a particular year is a coincidence.

As far as the Lions situation is concerned, Johnson had a great year the year he was on the cover and you can chalk up the Lions going from a playoff team before he was on the cover to 4-12 the year he was on it to the Lions being the Lions. Based on their history, the playoff appearance was the exception and the 4-12 record the following year was and is the rule. No "curse" caused the Lions to finish 4-12 the year Johnson was on the Madden cover except for maybe "The Curse of Being the Detroit Lions".
