Luck made his comments about an NFL-like schedule in future years before the SEC voted to stay at 8 IC games/year. The SEC wants its schools to play at least 1 OOC game against a Power 5 school.

In the Big 12, WVU plays 9 IC games… therefore, matching the level of SOS from the SEC.

I believe Luck wants to fulfill his promise to line up OOC games against border state schools. Probably why the rumors he is in discussion with UK are prominent.

I would LOVE to see UK on the schedule, along with sPitt, VPI, PSU, UMD, maybe even get OSU once in a while, on some sort of semi regular rotation. I would like to see the deal with the SEC we had a few years ago resume as well. The 9 B12 games do not match the 8+1 SEC schedule in SOS, in my opinion. Take a look at Georgia's schedule this year, nothing in the B12, or any other league comes close. Georgia Official Athletic Site - Football

Every year you can pick out one team in the SEC with a real tough schedule...take a overall look and most of the schedules are not that bad. Big 12 you cannot dick any team...

One more note most of those teams that get that hard schedule in the SEC usually ends up getting their ass kicked I.e. Georgia last year. More than likely Carolina this season. In 2012 KST was left out of title game for loss to Baylor(who had top offense in country that year) If I remember correctly KSt played 1 losing team in its first 9 games..Bama played 5 winning teams all season. Some SEC teams get a cakewalk through conf.

Hence why I think the Big 12 expanding is in the best interest of the 10 teams currently in the Big 12. Yes, the $$$ gets diluted temporarily by 2 more teams with not so great teams, (Cincy, BYU, Boise St....), but it would give greater schedule equity for our teams . LONG TERM, National Titles= MORE MONEY

WVU does have a tough schedule this year, but it is nowhere near as strong as UGa's. It seems funny to me that the same folks claiming how tough Kansas and ISU are STILL poo poo UK and Vandy. AT SCe, Mizzou, ARK, Florida, UK, the pay game against Clemson, then at home: Troy, Tenn, Vandy, Aub, CSo, GT. THAT is a tough schedule. The only knock one can give most of the SEC teams schedule is the 1AA game deep in the season, but THAT is smart scheduling to give them a break.

Beans, that has been a beef I've had with the B12, they are vulnerable, regardless of what some say. As the smallest of the big leagues, they are sitting EXACTLY where the BE was in 2002, AND doing exactly what the BE did, NOTHING!!!!! No one is leaving the other four leagues to come to the B12, so they need to pick the best of the "mid majors" before someone else does.

I would look for the ACC to get picked apart before the big 12. As long as the Longhorn Network exists Texas is going no where. Oklahoma teams not going anywhere without Texas. As long as you have Texas and OK, you have a league. What other team would be worth taking in all reality aside from Texas and OK? None of the other 8 including us bring any more money to the table. Money is the only thing driving expansion. I think there will be a calm untill the TV contracts run out. If the Big12 were to disolve at that point we will be in a much better place with what Luck is doing for us.

DC, I WILL call out Baylor's schedule: Baylor Bears Official Athletic Site - BaylorBears.com - Football I will also call out Kansas' schedule: University of Kansas Athletics - 2014 Football Schedule Iowa state doesn't have a murderers row either: Football - Schedule - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - The home of Iowa State Cyclone Sports

TCU? NOPE: TCU Horned Frogs Official Athletic Site - Football

The rest of the league at least have ONE respectable team on the OOC schedule, but these four are a joke.

Mike, I've seen several on here say that, and I don't see why. The B12 had such turmoil that four teams were desperate to leave and did, four more were in serious discussion to go to the PAC, the B12 is the one sitting on their hands doing nothing, and have from the time the realignment started. The B12 only took us and TCU out of desperation to fulfill their TV contracts. The ACC has lost ONE team, and that one to the B11, a MUCH more stable league than any other. As long as the B12 has ten teams, they are vulnerable, just as the BE was at eight. As long as the B12 does nothing proactive, they are vulnerable, just as the BE was by being reactionary. One league WILL disappear, and it will be either the B12 or ACC, as the B11, PAC, and SEC are NOT going away. As you point out, the B12 is Texas and OU at their base, the ACC has a much more storied base, Miami, FSU, GT, Clemson are their money teams, even if two left, they would still be a viable conference.

If I had to take two teams right now it would be UCF and USF...both have great markets and I think both programs are not that far off from being big time with alumni size and recruiting grounds.

I agree with you there, DC. UCF really seems to be on the rise. I do not see Cincy as a long term viable option over some of the other teams out there. BYU will bring nationwide TV sets to the league. I don't think Boise is the answer either. I think the two to take come out of the UCF, USF, BYU trio. AND I think they need to pull the trigger sooner than later, as no one from the other four big leagues is going anywhere.

DC, I thought you were saying you couldn't call anyone in the B12's schedule weak. I get you, and that is the best thing of a ten team league, everyone plays!!!

Just like the Black Diamond Trophy with VATech, we could have The Lil' Piggy Trophy got the WVU vs Kentucky matchup.

UCF and BYU would be the only viable options in my opinion, there are a lot of Mormons, UCF is huge and has a following. I would think they would want 2 east teams to be our partners and have an east and west divisions. Just don't know any other team in the east that would go at the moment that would be worth getting. All teams from the power 5 are locked in till the TV contracts run out.
