Louisville has no business being ranked ahead of Baylor. If Baylor is ranked low because they've played an easy schedule, that same logic should apply to Louisville. Louisville being ranked ahead of Baylor is the bullshit product of preseason polls.

As Sports Illustrated sportswriter Stewart Mandel points out at Dissecting the lack of upsets; Baylor's prolific start; Mailbag - College Football - Stewart Mandel - SI.com:

Stewart Mandel said:
it's completely illogical that 95 percent of AP voters have Louisville ranked ahead of Baylor. That's no knock on Louisville, but the two teams have basically played the same measly schedules. The Cardinals are destroying their opponents, but the Bears are doing something borderline inhumane.

Here are Baylor's scores:

vs. Wofford: 69-3
vs. Buffalo: 70-13
vs. ULM: 70-7
vs. WVU: 73-42

Here are Louisville's scores:

vs. Ohio: 49-7
vs. Eastern Kentucky: 44-7
vs. Kentucky: 27-13
vs. FIU: 72-0
@ Temple: 30-7

Basically the same schedule difficulty, but Baylor is destroying opponents in a way Louisville is not.

Baylor will finish ahead if they win the Big12. What's the issue?

Personally think #8 is too high, but Oklahoma is the main reason Baylor isn't ranked higher right now.

Do you ever notice that the only people not bitching about the rankings are the SEC schools?

And obviously I know Louisville is not an SEC school. But team SEC is getting absolute ridiculous to almost embarrassing worthless rankings right now. (See Georgia, aggies, SC).

I really wanna see Baylor play Oky.

One of those two is an obvious choice for a Fiesta Bowl bid.

They're still riding the high from beating Florida. It will work itself out if Baylor can keep this up against teams like Oklahoma and TTech.

Baylor was more impressive while giving up 42 points last week than Louisville has been all season.

Louisville returns 15 starters from their team that beat #3/#4 Florida in the Sugar Bowl last year... only two ranked teams returned more starters than Louisville: #13/#14 Miami (19 starters), #16/#19 Washington (17 starters)

Baylor, on the other hand, has yet to beat anybody big time. But they will have their chance. They have only played 1 of their 9 scheduled Big XII opponents, and still have to play #10/#12 Oklahoma, Texas, #20/#21 Texas Tech, #20/#22 Oklahoma State, and TCU

also, Louisville currently has the #1 scoring D in the nation by far (only allowing 6.8 points/game) and the #3 total D in the nation (behind only Florida and Michigan State)

Louisville is also #6 in the nation in turnover margin per game (behind only Oregon, Clemson, VT, Houston, and Navy)

Come on now.....

Baylor did not really allow 42 pts.
OR at least the competitive team named Baylor did not allow it.

Do you really think that was the Baylor team???
Baylor got up 42-7 in the second quarter.
They pulled all their starters after 1 drive in the 3rd quarter leading by 7 touchdowns.
The score was 63-14 when Baylor emptied its bench.

I am not going to judge them if their walk-ons get outscored 28-7 in garbage time.

[gazillion Louisville images]

If you're such a fan of Louisville that you need to give them a whole cheering gallery, then have the courage to list Louisville as your team under your avatar, like other fans do. You're on a sports forum, and you're afraid to list your favorite teams? :lame:

What was Texas ranked in the preseason? Oh yeah, those preseason rankings really mean a ton don't they?

Like I said, Oklahoma is holding Baylor back. If Baylor wins against the few quality Big12 teams, then they will be ranked well ahead of Louisville. So what exactly is the problem here?

Other than that Boyd kid from CLemson, there isn't a better QB in the country than Terry Bridgewater. That is why they are ranked so high. That kid is something special.

I think Teddy is the better of the 2 Bridgewaters.

Bridgewater has played 1 more game than Petty...if anyone cares about facts or anything.

So you're saying it's ok that Baylor is ranked where they are because they could maybe move up to where they should be if only they can pass a bunch of tests, where other teams don't have to pass any tests and are given the benefit of a doubt because of things they accomplished the previous season?

Ok, well hell. What the fuck are we arguing about? This guy has it all figured out.

If you can prove Baylor would win on a neutral field, then I'm with you. Until then we are just guessing

I'm saying voters have doubts Baylor will beat Oklahoma.
