Nice couple of wins over the weekend.

That should put a stop to the "Lakers can't beat the other contenders" talk (which is nice). But it really doesn't mean much beyond that.

Lebron is playing like he's on a mission and AD has been more aggressive over the past few games.

And then we lay an egg at home against the Nets. We still continue to lose to loser teams like this and it is just annoying.

If you had to guess which two-man combination of Lakers players has led the league in net rating for duos that have played at least 300 minutes together this season, you might guess...LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Right?

Not quite, actually!

The two All-Star starters and unquestioned superstars have indeed been fabulous together when sharing the court, with a net rating of 10.4.
But the actual answer to the question is LeBron and Alex Caruso, who boast a combined net rating of 21.7, which ranks well above the second-best duo, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Eric Bledsoe (18.9) of Milwaukee.

Well one of the reasons the Nets loss was so poignant is the Bucks have lost three straight and the Lakers had another opportunity to get the best overall record slip away. With GA out with a knee strain, the Lakers still have chance to surpass the Bucks. Losing to the Nets just makes the job tougher.

I'm not a doctor but this sounds ridiculous, a disgusting over reaction. What will they do next flu season?

The flu is a yearly thing. The medical fields and population are prepared for it, now its patterns, and how to react. This is different. There's no prep for this, the numbers of infected can be large, and it can put a massive strain on the medical system (one that's already combating the flu). It's not an overreaction.

I agree. It takes time to work on new strains. US was late to the party IMO.

COVID 19 is named because this is the 19th year since we first seen a corona virus. There have been several strains of corona since its first discovery. This strain got out of control in China and that is the only difference between the different corona viruses we have seen. We have a vaccine about ready for human testing that has been used on other pathogens successfully. The seasonal flu kills thousands of people every year and NBA players have been infected with the flu every year but the NBA has never cancelled a season because of it. And keep in mind that most people recover from COVID19. This is a global media driven panic. Its kind of embarrassing.

Yep, these jackasses are over-reacting. Just as you stated Rambunctious, canceling the NBA season (if that is what Silverman has done) is completely stupid and unnecessary. We first saw mass infection worldwide by a coronavirus in the SARS epidemic. That came and went. Then there was MERS. That came and went. Now we have this mass hysteria of the same virus that caused the first two bouts.

WTH? The difference? We have way too many idiots offering opinions about this appearance of a corona, none of which are close to be correct, like Kyle Long running his mouth on twitter. Good grief, this thing can't get more bizarre.

And like you stated Rambunctious, Influenza A virus has killed and will continue to kill way more people than any corona virus episode. What on the flippin' earth is wrong with people?

The NBA has not canceled any seasons over the common flu (Influenza A) or the common cold which is also caused by the Rhinovirus for crying out loud. They should not be freaking out and canceling the rest of the season either.

Your own logic defeats itself.

"The strain got out of control in China and that is the only difference between the different corona viruses we have seen".

That's exactly the point! There is NO preparation for it because its different and that's why its dangerous. The flu kills people, but there's stuff in place to keep the number down and the health care systems have what they need to treat people each year. There's nothing in place to keep the number down for this coronavirus. Even potential vaccines are at least 8 months to a year away coming out of trials, not weeks. The way it is now with no prior warning, no resources available, etc, more people can get sick to the point where they need treatment which strains resources because the system is overwhelmed which leads to all kinds of consequences. Everything snowballs.

Quite frankly I'm just going to be blunt. This isn't a "global media driven panic" and anyone that feels this way is stupid. There's zero benefit for "the media" (as if they are some singular mind) to even do that to being with so it fails a basic logic test but most people that believe that kind of stuff don't follow logic anyway. Hell, if people would actually pay attention, it isn't like "the media" just upped and decided a week ago that "OMG! We just discovered this thing, let's make it seem really bad for...reasons". It's been reported on and experts have warned about it since it first broke in China that this was something that could need attention and the coverage has built steadily as the outbreak itself grew and came ashore. And once it got here, it shocked a bunch of people that have had their heads in the sand.

Really? I'm stupid? SARS pig flu and bird flu have come into the United states and killed more people than COVID19 has and the NBA went on. Ebola same thing, the NBA has over reacted and now the NHL is following them following being the key word because that's all people are doing, following others that know nothing about the Corona virus. The American people in my view has never been more easily frightened into changing their behavior and that is embarrassing. So when do we get pro sports back? If we follow the logic of the NBA the answer would be never because we will never be rid of new viruses. Grown men and women panicking like little children. I've never seen this in America before in my lifetime. My advise is to turn of the news until this has passed.
