Caruso replaces Stephenson and we shall see if he makes the team this year.

The lead is 21 and this has been a nicely done blow-out by the Nuggies. We have some work to do on D but I think Luke wanted to see who can shoot and who can't on this new roster.

This one is done with a 17-point loss. Things look different and it'll take this team a little bit of time to get used to playing with all the new faces. Lots of positives and a few negatives on our first preseason outing.

Great time of the year when all the major sports and auto racing are all active. Love October and this year with the Lakers should be different!!

This biggest problem we had last year IMO, is Luke managing the roster at the end and beginning of quarters. He has to improve that.

Even though this was a preseason, there are some things that do emerge and Luke's management of this roster is one of them.

Game went about as expected. Defense is harder than offense in the NBA because of the communication and trust required. So, unsurprising that they struggled defensively against a team that hasn't had a lot of roster turnover.

Offensively, they looked pretty good for the most part. There were some unreal passes by Lebron and Rondo (Rondo had 11 assists in only 23 minutes).

If JaVale McGee can stay off of Shaqtin' A Fool, he looks like he could clean up with Rondo, Lebron and eventually Lonzo feeding him.

Game 2 vs. the Nuggets tonight. Lebron playing, still no Lonzo.

It'll be interesting to see what improvements, if any, we see from game 1.

I expect the defense to struggle. The offense was chucking a bit but already to see those dimes by players was nice. Even without Lonzo

Another loss to the Nuggies followed by a high scoring affair and win over the Queens. We are getting there offensively but the D still remains a question mark.

Defense has been an issue for five years. I think we will be better as the season goes along. I will cut him slack it is preseason.

Lakers and the Clip Joint tonight for Game 4 of the preseason. We are scoring 115.3 ppg and allowing 120 ppgs. Diff= -4.7. This is an improvement from last year but it must get better in the regular season if we are going to see a post season. Granted these are preseason data but it is an indicator that our D is still a bit suspect.

In all fairness, in both games against Denver he had Zubac, Caruso, Wear, Svi, Williams, Bonga and Berry II playing most of the second half

Agree with both of you.

Agree with Retro that the defense will need to improve. But as you said, it's the pre-season and as Shaqdaddy pointed out, some guys have seen significant 2nd half minutes who are unlikely to see significant time in any game this season.

Even if we see them getting some minutes, we won't see Zubac, Caruso, Wear, Svi, etc. on the floor together at anytime unless it's a blowout 1 way or the other.

The defense will likely be the last thing that comes together. Good defense is about communication and trust. It takes time to develop both.

Should be interesting to see how fast the O AND the D come together and that may get Luke a Coach of the Year award if it is fairly rapid.
