he would have beat out binns and tate for sure, but the Bengals did what they had to do. not much use for a druggie wide out who you know will already miss the first 4 games.

He only missed 3 games. I'd rather have him missing 3 games and playing for 13 than Tate/Binns for 16.

He does have a gigantic melon...He and Andre Caldwell were both really bizarre looking. Caldwell had the eyes on the side of his head/General Akbar thing going on and Rome has a nine head.

This is a guy whose obvious lack of intelligence will always trump his talent.......good riddance, if we never find a true #2...... and I think that guy is on the roster now if Marvin just gives him a chance in some combination of Jones and Sanu.....

Yet he'd still be the 2nd or 3rd best receiver on this roster.

I agree, good riddance!

what we're missing out on because the Bengals are stupid as hell:

I firmly believe one of these guys (or both in combination) would prosper with the opportunity, but we already know how stubborn Marvin is about rookies except in really extreme situations (Dalton, AJ). Marvin Jones has made a few plays in the rare opportunities he's had. That said, the combined production of the three top WRs for the Bengals still compares favorably with the rest of the league, even including Binns.

It's not loling as much at them, as much as the people who all thought Tate and Binns would be suitable replacements. A guy who got cut midseason would have been our no. 2 receiver. That should tell you that Armon Binns has no business being anywhere close to dressing for any NFL team.

I never said Binns or Tate are suitable replacements, but I believe Sanu or Jones may be, and to take the stance Simpson should still be here is ridiculous, even if he would start ahead of Binns. The guy was here for three seasons and apparently couldn't learn the playbook, and once he did his overall production was very mediocre. He often ran bad routes and dropped as many easy catches as he made above average plays. He's a moron, and we don't need him here.

I wasn't referring to you, personally. I was elaborating on your point. Simpson was/is an idiot, and the Bengals did right to cut him. 3 seasons of zero productivity, and one marginal year...not worth the headaches. The fact that there were people on this board who felt we weren't going to miss a beat because we had Armon Binns is still hilarious to me.

I guess they figured its so hard to sell out the stadium we have to put Binns in there to pander to Bearcat homers.

I agree Binns is extremely limited. I just don't understand how he has managed to stay ahead of Jones and Sanu on the depth chart. Jones can win downfield, and Sanu looks to have great potential in yards after catch. Either is much more explosive than Binns.
