Ahead of what? Who in their right mind wants to play for Boston?

At least LA has the glitz and glamour of Hollywood - that alone should attract a decent player or two.

Has anyone ever said "I hope I end up in Massachusetts"?

Have to agree Shaqdaddy. The Celtics have never drawn top free agents. Danny is going to have to do the same GM mastery he pulled off in his first rebuild.

I do agree though that the Clippers and the Lakers have that LA hollywood draw, or at least did at one time.

Don't get me wrong; the Celtics have always been good in the draft. But that's where they'll have to depend gather than the free agents.

And that's why the Lakers will be more successful than Boston in the future.

LA might be able to attract big time free agents, but our draft pick situation is amazing and Danny pulled off the KG/Allen summer, why couldn't he do it again?

And he can! There's no doubt about that!

In fact, as a Lakers fan i'm actually one of the few that hopes the Celtics make it to #1 in the East again.

I love Lakers-Celtics NBA finals.

I just see the Lakers making it to the top again before Boston does!

The last significant Free Agent signed by Lakers was 18 years ago with Shaq. Its not a common thing, and certainly more challenging with the new CBA and salary/cap. The hope many in LA is that Lebron will 2 decades later will do the same. If he does, they get back first.

I am still perplexed why Danny has poo pood this draft publically. Yes, by most standards the draft was overhyped, but knowing he has all the assets to make that franchise changing move/trade this year, why would he attempt to lower the value of his #4/5 lottery pick?

Something is up, Wyc seems to be super excited, I just dont see why.

Yeah I don't understand why Danny is being public about his negative thoughts about this class. It may be over hyped, but it's still the best class since 03.

Its a deep class, yes, so all is good. If we get TJ at 17 I will be pumped.

But I need someone to enlighten me as Danny's schtick here.

Doubt he falls to 17, but that would be a nice pick if he does. I'm praying for some lottery night magic, but with our history in the lottery my expectations are low. I'd be happy with top 5 now that were the 5th worse team.

None of these guys are franchise turners, or at least not for 3 to 5 years. Durant still has no ring as an example, and even the best big guy over the next 5 years, Mr Davis, is a few years away from the dance.

They need to draft a player in #5/7 and #17/18 that are solid starters in the next 24 months. They have two young ones already in Sully and Kelly O. Thats a great young roster on the cheap with a coach that is young enough to relate to this crop. Of course, if a 25 year old star is dangled as trade bait, that could change.

OMG Gnarly, just skimmed the content. I just think Boston fans were being more realistic.

Eager to see our rebuild progress further. Nucleus of Sully/Kelly/Smart/Bradley/Turner/Rondo for perhaps a long term core roster aint so bad. Need to sell off Green and Bass to a playoff contender.

POS STARTER 2ND 3RD 4TH 5TH
Point Guard Rajon Rondo Marcus Smart Phil Pressey
Shooting Guard Avery Bradley Marcus Thornton James Young
Small Forward Jeff Green Evan Turner Gerald Wallace
Power Forward Jared Sullinger Brandon Bass Dwight Powell
Center Kelly Olynyk Tyler Zeller Vitor Faverani

Yeah, KG and Ray Allen fleeing their teams was pure genius on Ainge's part.

Right.

Are Celtics fans still tossing around phrases like "the Olynyk era?"

What!? You don't love centers that average fewer rebounds than their point guard?

Considering Rondo is averaging 8.1 rebounds per game, he's out-rebounding Jonas V, Josh Smith, Lamarcus Aldridge, Hibbert, Sanders, Marc Gasol, Ibaka, and Robin Lopez. I'd say Olynyk is in pretty good company
