Considering Rondo is averaging 8.1 rebounds per game, he's out-rebounding Jonas V, Josh Smith, Lamarcus Aldridge, Hibbert, Sanders, Marc Gasol, Ibaka, and Robin Lopez. I'd say Olynyk is in pretty good company

The difference is that none of these fans are naming their teams newest era ofter those guys (I would cry if someone said this was the Pistons Smith-era)?

ps-it was a joke, we all know that Rondo is an exceptional rebounder for a PG

There was only one refence made to any era in this thread, and it was about the Showtime Lakers era. You're letting these Lakers fans get into your head there (No) Logic

I know it may be hard to believe, but the Celtics fans have referenced their team in other threads.
It seems that you are a little touchy about the results of your rebuilding process.
It's okay, as a Pistons fan, I understand:suds:

And I believe, that the original Olynyk-era remark was also made as a joke by either CrotchRocker or LogicMan. I don't really believe they think that he is the second coming of Bird.

Actually I think Trojan penned it, or he got it from my old and dead friend crotch (well, dead on here that is).

Its a funny thing the Kelly O era. Hey, we got the White Mamba why not go two for two?

I'm actually quite enjoying rebuilding while still remaining competitive. Also what's so wrong with the use of the word era? By definition an era is a period of time with one defining characteristic. It's not as if you have to be dominant to be in an era.

In the East, the Celtics can get 30-33 wins. They have some talent on the roster and in the starting lineup.

Are Celtics fans still tossing around phrases like "the Olynyk era?"

:L

You may not be familiar with him, but he's going to be a good player.

He's already averaging 14.4ppg and 6.3rpg in just his 2nd season. He's a 7-footer who can step outside and hit the 3-pointer. Think a poor man's Dirk Nowitzki.

You must have a different definition of competitive than I do.
Nothing wrong with the word era, but usually people want their teams quality periods remembered by the -era.
Like people think of the Jordan-era as winning the 6 championships, not the years prior with Doug Collins as coach and losing in the playoffs.
Though I guess the Pistons have the teal-era. I just would like Josh Smith not to be associated with the Pistons at all, and definitely not be an -era.

Yeah Kelly O is looking pretty good right now for year two. He certainly has range, and he is willing to drive....................but will he play D?

I guess losing to the eastern conference favorites by 1 is non-competitive? Then what is?:noidea:

As for not wanting to be in an era, you may want to contact Merriam-Webster/Oxford to change that definition

Being in the playoff hunt. Having a shot at the title. Being at least .500.

And yes, you are always in an era, but history will not remember them all defined that way. I was going by common usage, not dictionary properness. I believe that the reference meant that now that Olynyk was here a new era of greatness for the Celtics was to begin, not just that Olynyk played for the Celtics from this date until this date and hence we can call this the Olynyk-era regardless of the results.

He is a nice player. Just need someone who is going to play a more traditional center with him since he is more a stretch 4. And can he defend bigs? Can Sully pound that much down low and pull in enough boards to complement Kelly's outside play?

To be fair, I'm averaging more rebounds than Hibbert.

Rock hasn't been here for ages.......

Celtics are finding ways to blow 4th quarter leads thats for sure.

The Lakers have come across a sure fire way to not blow 4th quarter leads. They just avoid having leads in the 4th quarter.:L

Boston Celtics' Decision to Trade Paul Pierce Looks Better Than Ever | Bleacher Report

Great update on the Nets firesale and the impact for Boston. W/o question, Boston will have the assets to be a primary player in any major deal in the next two or three years. They have the golden three: Cap space, Young Talent, and numerous Lottery picks. Its better than 2007

Thank you Paul Pierce must be added. he took one for the franchise, and I suspect, will play his last game in green.
