PFT is doing a "Mt. Rushmore" of the four very best players from the history of each franchise.

I could give two shits what the general public thinks, but I'm interested in the opinions here.

So what four would be on your Lions Mt. Rushmore?

Bobby, Barry, Doak and Hanson. I can't put CJ up there since he's active. Something could go horribly wrong,(He could play for the Bears somehow) and that's a lot of hammering and chiseling if it does.

That is a Good Point. If excluding current players. I would put up there
Barry Sander
NightTrain Lane
Bobby Layne
Lem Barney

Why Jason Hanson over Night Train Lane? Because he scored more points?

C'mon now, how can you add Charles Rogers and Mike Williams to anything other than Lions draft busts list?
Besides, Roy Williams made the Pro Bowl with the Lions and most likely would've been two years running if not for a season ending injury. Not to mention being traded for a 1st, 3rd and 6th round draft picks from the Cowgirls.
Journeyman Scott Mitchell on the other hand had a couple of winning seasons with the Lions unlike Joey Harrington with any team.

Forgot about Billy Sims. He should have been on that 'honorable mention' list I put up for sure...

The HoF crew. I can't see making a list that doesn't consist of 4 of these guys.

I just didn't want to use 2/4 players I didn't see play live so I chose Layne over Lane.

I can't see leaving Megatron off... He's a current player, but he's on track to be right behind Jerry Rice as the greatest WR of all time. His career numbers so far plus the fact that he's also the single-season yardage record holder at the position is enough for me to put him in the Lions top 4...

Plus, they invented a special coverage just for CJ- that's when you know he's destined for greatness, when other teams invent a new technique just to stop him...

Porcher was pretty darn good, probably good enough to merit an honorable mention, imo, but I can't really call him great. That's just me, and he was very good, but he's not a Hall of Fame player, everyone on this list should be (Calvin isn't yet, but there shouldn't be any doubt that he will be) since we have plenty of HOF players to fill a list of 4 guys. That's just my opinion though.

I'd put Porcher just outside the top ten Lions of all time, I think- let's see:

1. Barry Sanders
2. Calvin Johnson
3. Bobby Layne
4. Night Train Lane
5. Joe Schmidt
6. Lem Barney
7. Herman Moore
8. Yale Larry
9. Alex Karras
10. Jack Christensen/ Doak Walker

I can't put Porcher ahead of any of these Hall of Fame guys... I think he's in that next wave of very good, but not quite great players. Definitely our best DE that I can think of, though...

I have a hard time voting for a player I didn't watch. I know that removes most of the hall of famers, but a Mt. Rushmore of players I have never seen would just be some rocks to me.
