lions need to work on stopping the run.thy looked awful against the giants.
Lions had a top 5 run defense last year and the only change to the front 8 is adding one of the greatest run suffers in the game.

They may need to improve it for their 3rd string and practice squad, but I am not concerned about that.

About 7 of the guys who played in that game will see significant playing time this season. I think they sat 30 guys, and about 3 of them were because of injury.

They were running basic defenses to see how young guys would compete. This game was indicative of almost nothing.

Gibbs, Arnold, and Rakestraw all got hurt in practice today. No idea how bad for any of them yet.

Fixed. I knew what you meant though. Half the guys that played last week wont be on the team. The other half wont play much except for a few

All the updates have been positive. Everyone expected to be ready for the season opener.

Antoine Green out for the season with a serious injury though.

It was a tense wait to hear on Gibbs

For sure.

Sad about Green too. I was hoping he could step up and be a suitable backup for Jammo.

Can't get too much from preseason, but I don't see how we find out if any WR is going to step up with Sudfield under center.

No worries. They signed Jake Fromm State Farm.

Isaiah Williams did just that. Should easily be number 4 now with A Green gone and Tre'quan hurt yet again.

Of course there is always Kennedy. The Andre Fluellen of WRs.

So this was better but still a lot of mistakes. I guess that will make it easier to make cuts. Gilmore made another terrible decision that gave up a 64 yard TD. Kid has a ton of talent but is a major liability from the neck up still. Our other DBs looked real good though. Amik and Vildor especially. Our QBs did better but still not comforting. We are really deep at RB. I hope we keep 5 because both Z and Vaki did well. DE is looking real well too. Gonna be tough to decide who stays. O-line was better this week but half of those guys wont be on the team anyway. I am waiting for an interior DL guy to step up. Broderic has but we still need 1 more.

I think Broderick and Peko can fill in next to Alim until Reader is back. Plus Onwuzerike and Wingo for pass rush downs. I think we are solid there. I am curious why Houston did not play this game after they stopped using him as LB.

He is hurt. Ukwu and Bettis have looked real good so far. Dont be surprised if Houston is put on IR with a minor injury and then released with a settlement. We are super deep at DE now.

After the first game, Campbell said Houston was hurting.

As for ending the linebacker experiment, thank goodness common sense wins out every now and then.

Deep and deep with talent are two different things. Houston showed very rare talent at getting to the QB before he got hurt and before the coaches got stupid with square-peg-round-holery. Cutting him would be as dimwitted as trading up to draft Brodric Martin and Giovanni Manu was.

Plus our FAs and UDFAs have played better than average in pre season so the need at LB is diminishing.

I don't like spending future draft picks for lower rounds in the current draft, but I have no problems with the players picked. Martin is already showing he is ready to be a valuable rotation player, and I am confident Manu will hit his potential with Fraley coaching him. In a year or 2 Manu will be the best swing tackle in football, and will make the transition from Decker after that seamless. Keeping our bookends great for years.

I disagree on Martin. He's already been demoted since the start of camp. Peko, a journeyman everyone assumed was signed as camp fodder, has leapfrogged him as Reader's interim replacement. Martin is big, but he can't play.

I also disagree on Manu.
