Wouldn't it be better to just factor in the amount of false starts? I mean a half sack is somewhat unrelated.

they lose 5 yards but not the down. So half as damning as a sack.
Sure false starts to me is about as damaging as a half a sack. it often ends drives.
I dont think people seeing a penalty on a lineman as that big of a deal.
Also they get glorified for not giving up a sack (in grading systems) Well when you are jumping the gun it is easier to not give up that sack. If people see that as a half a sack loss I think it paints a clearer picture.
