Nike was already paying Zion before he went to Duke. Now it would just be out in the open. I thought we were in a capitalistic society.

It's of note however that since the lid blew off the AAU stuff UK and Duke suddenly didn't get every single top 15 recruit. That was basically status quo for a few years

Football requires more of everything that costs money:

More players to field a team
More coaches
More trainers
More equipment
Etc.

True. But an NFL team could lock-up a high school player in their farm league...teach them to play the game pro-style from the beginning. They'll pay for a lot of that...volume discounts n sech.

CFB will end-up being the guys who probably won't make it...like baseball and tennis.

Liberals destroy everything they touch. SF and LA are drowning in homeless, junkies, millions of illegal aliens, needles, human waste, garbage, rats, and diseases that were eradicated centuries ago are now returning. Yet, this pandering "progressive" hibitual lair turd Newsom goes on tv to grandstand on this matter with pro-athletes who live in gated mansions like he's doing something worthy for society.

The left has been attacking football for over a decade. I'm sure this is a method toward that madness.

Coaches don’t have the legal hurdle of Title IX. Are you in favor of the women’s tennis coach making the same as Clay Helton or whoever is your next coach? Coaches making money is irrelevant to this dumb bill.

Alumni will be irate at the thought of their money paying kids to play for their alma mater. They think a degree has value.

They'll demand the athletes pass tests relevant to their curriculum. CFB teams will be decimated.

Football will develop a minor league, like baseball.

Football in the NCAA might return to a sport for those actually attending college instead of just NFL tryouts.

...but call me an optimist.

Why would it be the alumni's money? None of these payments are going to be made from schools to players.

Disagree, the NFL tried a minor league system with NFL Europe and it failed miserably. Problem will always be fans with non professional football. You as a fan of Florida will pay money regardless of who suits up, there is no loyalty for minor league football and no way the NFL, XFL or any other league could generate 1/10th the money the NCAA does with college football.

And as long college ball is developing NFL quality players, why would the NFL spend a dime on a farm league?

Title IX has nothing to do with this bill.

Those homeless are non working people. Us people who live and work in Cali are doing great. Every person in my social circle is gainfully employed..it's about time the actual people generating the billions for schools and the NCAA get something

Name one school that makes billions of dollars from athletics?

It's not a left vs right issue. A Republican in North Carolina has proposed a similar bill.

I dont watch a lot of baseball, but the top down on this "ballpark" looks like a retarded engineer designed it.... was there a story behind this building??? or is the squiggles of the park and stadium intentional?

It's for the Red Sox. People from Boston are retarded. Nice and shady doh.

I like to go to Twins games with the kids. It's just a beautiful park - especially in the evening.

Yeah, it’s the same reason the NBA wanted the 1 and done rule. 18 year olds are a terrible investment.

That's why he said "schools"

Combine the top what ten football programs in the country and they don’t sniff a billion dollars in revenue. The Pac 12 combined profits maybe 10 million?

You're confusing profits and revenue. They are not the same thing.

Schools and the NCAA is what I wrote.
Just the salary of the pac 12 commissioner would give 80 members of each teams football squad 5k. One guy. So sorry if I dont think something can be done . A film student on scholarship can make a short film and get paid and not lose his scholership. This is just about the NCAA fearing the loss of cash cow .

That's not where this is though. If they start paying players, it'll really damage CFB. I mean it will really, really damage CFB. Every school's bleachers will look like a Miami game at home.

You don't pay someone to go to your university! If they need to get paid to get a degree there, fuck them. gtfo. That WILL be the response of alumni from public universities to paying players. We already cringe when illiterate players get a mic in their faces...that's fake enough.

That being said, the NFL will have to get a farm league because the universities won't pay these degenerate retards to play a sport at their school. CA schools will get good players doing this at first. Then, the rest of the country will have to follow and the entire thing will crumble. Any school winning the NC with purchased players will be a joke....the sucker that paid for that shit.
