I may be by myself on this one, but while we've had a ton of injuries, this team is really under performing. This is still a line-up full of veteran hitters, and we just flat out don't produce runs. A lot of these same guys will be in the line-up next year + Fielder. Our rotation and bullpen suck and we all know that, but someone has to be held accountable for this IMO. We had trouble scoring runs last year. I hope the FO don't just chalk it up to a season lost because of injuries. Changes need to be made before next year.
:agree:

Even with our full assortment of guys, the team was running Mitch Moreland out there on a daily basis. The team is too cheap to sign enough good hitters to really scare anyone. It's crazy because the front office should be familiar with the formula, we had it in 2009-2012, but damn the offense has been bad the last 2 years.

If 4 hitters is full, I'm failing to understand the math. Rios, Choo, Andrus, Beltre. I guess you could include Martin and his 261 total games in the big leagues to make it five, but that's a huge stretch IMO. Rios and Beltre are hitting as well as they normally do or even better. Choo has been on one leg for about half the season, and as been discussed for months, EA has no business hitting 2nd.

What changes specifically are you asking to be addressed Justin?

I wish one of ya who's on board with Justin to "at least respond" to this post. I'm lost as the thoughts you guys are having. Help me out please.

Just as a starter: hitting coach, rotation, bp.

I am not convinced of Rios for one. Martin for another. Maybe we should resign Cruz and not invite Rios back? These are just a few question JD should think long and hard on. What to do with Moreland? Beltre is a year older, should he take on DH more often than not. Just a few ideas IMO. I understand any argument against these.

Nothing should be edged in stone next year.

Really wouldn't worry about anything going National for quite a while now. Kidding, but not really.

Geovany Soto went 0 for 2 in his first rehab game Friday, but threw out two runners trying to steal.

Didn't really expect too much from him offensively.

Choo - defense is subpar, one of the lowest BA's in the AL in June, and was K'ing practically every other AB. He may be hurt, but the results are what they are.
Rios - is batting .300, but HR production is way down and he still may be leading the AL (could be majors) in DP's. He often seems to disappear in critical moments..
Bullpen - Cotts and Frasor are not dependable.
Elvis - no need to repeat, we all know of his issues this year.
Yu - he's brilliant at times, but not so good at other times (last night, any game against the A's). An ace must be more dependable and consistent, especially against our division rivals!
Let's include Martin - great defensively most of the time, it's offense where he suffers - mental breakdowns in key AB's - swinging at everything, one pitch AB's...

A legit argument to be made is that all these guys are pushing too hard, trying to do to much. That's where managing comes in. There's my reasons in a nutshell. Like I said, my opinion....

Thanks DT.....I was really referencing Justin's "we have a line-up full of veteran hitters" first. Fact is, that's about as false a statement as one can make. We don't, period.

Granted, we have no choice but to address the pitching situation. Someone said the other day - and it was a great point really - that in their opinion JD's biggest drawback is his counting on guys injured to be the same as when they got hurt, when they return. That's betting to much on the come IMO.

Hitting coach can't be that much of an intricate part of a teams success can it? Or can it? Clint Hurdle had this team hitting like a fine machine. And we've struggled since he left.

But let me ask one and all: Who among us - including me - had concern one when this season started as to where this team was going? Did we have a concern or two (i.e. Harry bouncing back/MM becoming the player we hoped), for sure? But for the most part, most of us felt comfortable with what we'd done in the off season.

Our entire game plan went-to-shit the day Holland got hurt playing hockey....oops, I mean falling over his dog. Doesn't matter really. Our season collapsed when he got hurt; again IMO.

Probably to fire Washington

And the Mr Mitch Moreland is the anti-Christ is heard from yet again.

Since you're counting: I sure wish we were the Phillies at having the 3rd highest payroll instead of us being 8th. Then we'd be....well, the fucking Phillies.

Pitching definitely. But I attribute the offense tanking day one reg. season when Fielder wasn't the Fielder we traded for and finally fessed up that his back was troubling him. Think he was preparing to ride out that entire season that way until it was just paining him too much. But they both go hand in hand. Just not a good season and very hard to watch now-a-days. It will take its toll on the attendance probably this week.

I think it was myself, in a reference to Lainey, about JD relying too heavily on Harrison and Lewis as being too much a part of the rotation when there is no way Harrison could command a full season of pitching. Surprised Lewis is holding his own so far on a new hip.

Ron Washington said catcher Chris Gimenez may stay with #Rangers once Geo Soto is ready. Gimenez is out of options, can play first base.

I'm not even entirely sure. Like BLeslie said, the chemistry just isn't there. Usually winning changes that, but it's been broken with all of the changes JD has made. I know that most of them had to happen and was ok with them, but it's evident now. Magadan should be fired, and I think Wash gets one more year. Lots of changes with the pitching staff but that's obvious.

Veterans....Choo, Andrus, Beltre, Rios, Pena, Gimenez. That's more than half of the line-up. You are right, it's not "full", but there's certainly enough firepower to be scoring more than we do.
