I posted before the playoffs that I wasn't confident about their chances. This is why.

They've has a tendency all season to have their bats go quiet for a few games at a time.

You can get away with that in a 7 game series. A lot harder to do in a 5 game series.

Hopefully, the bats wake up today. I believe the Padres starting pitcher for today is 0-6 vs. the Dodgers. Hopefully that doesn't just mean that he's due to get one. lol

This team is so much different than the one who won the title. These guys really gave up a bunch of good role players just to lend Westbrook, lol. He’s not even the problem tbh, they’re lacking good role players.

It's been weird.

They won the title in 2020 and made changes to the roster that had virtually everyone saying that they had improved the roster and predicting they would repeat.

Then they were decimated with injuries, but got healthy enough to get to the playoffs and go up 2-1 on the Suns before AD went down again.

Then last year they had a trade that would have landed them a package good enough to contend (if AD and Lebron stayed healthy) but AD and Lebron insisted on Westbrook, said they could make it work and the FO listened. At one point, they were like 19-16 or something when they were hit with injuries again.

I put 100% of 2021 on injuries.

For last season, I put about 50% on injuries and divide the rest among Lebron/AD for insisting on a guy everyone knew wouldn't fit, the Lakers FO for listening, especially when they had a better trade ready to go and Westbrook for the drama he created because he lacks the insight to realize he's not that guy anymore and alter his game.
